Congratulations to Year 6 student Mairah K, who has been awarded the Graham Freudenberg Special Category Award at the Whitlam Institute’s What Matters? Writing Competition.

Mairah’s entry, 'I Refuse to Feel Nothing', was recognised for its outstanding commentary on Australian social and political issues and thoughtful exploration of policy ideas and solutions.

In a first for the competition, Mairah is the first Year 6 student in its history to receive this special award. She was also interviewed by ABC Radio National’s Robyn Williams AO and has been awarded a fully funded trip to Canberra, where she will spend a day at Parliament House shadowing political speechwriters and journalists in the Press Gallery.

Adding to the celebration, Mairah has chosen to donate her prize money to the St Andrew's Cathedral School Library.

Congratulations, Mairah, on this wonderful achievement and your thoughtful contribution to the wider community.

A huge thank you to everyone who made Giving Day a tremendous success!

To all who donated, shared, rallied their friends and family, and helped raise an incredible $222,532.

One of the many highlights of the day was the Dunk Tank in the Square. As the total passed $200,000, Mr Wu earned his turn in the water, much to the crowd’s delight. Mr Partington was dunked thanks to the generosity of Middle School and Rev Newling took the plunge because of the huge number of Junior School and Gawura School donations. And who could forget Mr Cobb in choir robes and Mr Swibel in full Junior School uniform!

Thank you for helping create more opportunities for our students across performing arts, creative arts and our choristers.

One day of giving. A world of possibility.

Responsible Futuring: Small actions, meaningful impact ♻️

Our students recently visited the Return and Earn depot in Mascot to see what happens to the containers collected through our school’s Return and Earn programme.

The excursion gave students the chance to use the Return and Earn machines, learn more about the recycling process and see how their actions can make a difference.

Through the Return and Earn app, our community can donate container refunds directly to Gawura School, helping support opportunities and resources for Gawura students.

Next time you return your containers, nominate Gawura School in the Return and Earn app and turn your recycling into support for our community.

As part of Responsible Futuring, our students are learning that creating a better future starts with the choices we make today.

Yesterday, Junior School and Gawura School hosted their End of Term Awards Assembly. This was a celebration of all that has been achieved during Term 3 and was a wonderful send off for all students and staff.

Students, parents and teachers enjoyed some fantastic musical performances and were reminded to stay connected and attentive by reading more over the break!

Thanks to everyone who joined us and we trust you will have an enjoyable break. We hope you return feeling refreshed and ready for Term 4.

ZEDGE 2026: A Weekend in Habakkuk

What a weekend at ZEDGE CRU Camp! 92 students from Years 7–12 gathered at Galston for a weekend of friendship, fun, prayer and exploring faith.

Led by Rev James Harricks, students journeyed through Habakkuk, reflecting on bringing our honest questions to God, living by faith and finding hope even in difficult circumstances.

Between talks and Q&A sessions, students enjoyed swimming, wide games and creative workshops, including Prayer Chalk, making a metal tree and writing letters of encouragement to missionaries. Saturday night brought a Back to the Future-themed dress-up night, led by our Year 11 CRU Prefects and student leaders.

A wonderful weekend of connection, laughter and growing in faith. 💙

A historic day for St Andrew's Cathedral School Athletics!

Last Tuesday, the St Andrew's Athletics Team competed at the ISA Athletics Carnival, with students delivering strong performances across the track and field.

Our boys made history, claiming the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Boys’ Division 2 Shields - the first time our School has won all three at the same ISA Athletics Carnival. This secured the Overall Boys’ Division 2 Shield and promotion back to Division 1 next year! 🏆

Adding to the success, 14 St Andrew's athletes, seven girls and seven boys, were selected to represent the ISA at the upcoming CIS Athletics Carnival.

Congratulations to all our athletes on a fantastic day of competition and to our 14 ISA representatives on their selection! We’re proud of the way you represented our School.
