Definitely recommend heading to Bermagui and to Four Winds- what a beautiful place, lovely people and fantastic venue.

Doretta Balkizas and I loved sharing our music with the Four Winds audience for our last concert of ‘Lyrical Masterpieces’ for Musica Viva - thank you for your wonderful support!

Excited to visit Four Winds at Barragga Bay with Doretta Balkizas to play in the beautiful Windsong Pavilion on Saturday February 21.🎵

Lyrical Masterpieces for Piano & Violin | Feb 21

If you love the expressive heart of classical music, ‘Lyrical Masterpieces’ is an intimate afternoon devoted entirely to violin and piano repertoire. Rich, radiant and deeply lyrical.

Violinist Doretta Balkizas and pianist Brieley Cutting present a refined program of French and German classics, tracing a journey from impressionist colour to Romantic warmth.

The concert opens with Debussy’s Sonata in G minor, shimmering with light and nuance, followed by the tender lyricism of Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne. A rare gem from one of the early 20th century’s most compelling voices. Messiaen’s Thème et Variations unfolds with glowing intensity, before Margaret Sutherland’s Nocturne offers quiet strength and poise from a pivotal Australian modernist.

To close, Brahms’ Sonata No.1 in G major brings soaring melodies and deep emotional resonance, a work Clara Schumann described as so moving she wished it could accompany her “from here to the next world.”

Presented in association with Musica Viva Australia, this recital is an opportunity to hear two exceptional musicians in a program designed for close listening, warmth and expressive beauty.

A delightful final performance of the year with ‘Ambient Delights’! World premiere of Mark Oliveiro’s ‘Electronic Suite’ for piano quartet with live electronics, and summer feels 😎 with the buoyant and beautiful ‘Trout’ Quintet from Schubert.

Many thanks to The Church for looking after us and making the event so enjoyable. And it was absolutely wonderful to work with Mark, Dan, Ely, Andy and Luke - 🎵🌟fabulous team!

We were all so fortunate to enjoy such a wonderful afternoon, when not long after in the evening of the same day, tragedy was unfolding elsewhere in Sydney. Thoughts and sympathies to those who have been made to suffer trauma and loss at Bondi 🩵💐

What better way to end the year than with a chamber music concert with good friends! We will be playing Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Piano Quintet - which somehow feels like a summer, festive work - alongside brand new music with electronics by Mark Oliveiro.

I will be performing with Dan Lopez, Luke Spicer, Ely Streatfeild, and double bass extraordinaire Andy Meisel will be stepping in for Bonita Han-Williams.

Come and join us for ‘Ambient Delights’ on Sunday December 14 at The Church in Alexandria! Tickets are free and by ballot, and the event can be found on the Phoenix Central Park webpage or via my website.

Safely behind glass, a moment nicely captured by Daniel Lopez during the film music recording at Trackdown on Friday.

I could engineer a narrative behind this that I am here thinking, preparing, being cerebral - but to keep it real, I would say this is a moment when piano is tacet and I am taking mental time out. …so in other words, here is me, probably reading off my iPhone 🙃😆

Starting the year with a bit of practise, some teaching, and today some recording for a new film. Music by George Ellis for Bruce Beresford’s ‘The Traveller’.

Enclosed here away from the others, in my own little separate room- so Piano Life 😂

Great to be working once more alongside the likes of Daniel Lopez and others
