Your baby isn’t overwhelmed because you’re doing anything wrong, the world is simply a lot when you’ve spent nine months in the warm, dim, rhythmic safety of the womb.

So when you give your baby closeness, movement, skin-to-skin, being held, these aren’t creating bad habits.

They’re meeting your baby where they are at, and giving them what their sensory and nervous system understand ❤️.

People who feel ready for the newborn stage have done these three things during pregnancy 👇🏻

1. They’ve set realistic expectations for what newborn sleep actually looks like.

They know that short stretches, contact naps and frequent waking are biologically normal and not signs that something’s wrong. They’ve learned that rest doesn’t always mean baby asleep in the bassinet, sometimes it’s a nap on your chest and a quiet day at home.

2. They’ve talked about support, not just stuff.

Instead of only setting up a nursery, they’ve set up help. They’ve asked:

“Who can bring food?”
“Who can I call if feeding feels hard?”
“Who’s taking the night shift with me?”

They know that being resourced and cared for helps them care for their baby.

3. They’ve learned what’s normal for newborns and what’s not.

Because when you understand that the cluster feeds, crying peaks and need for contact all serve a purpose, you stop second-guessing every sound and movement.

That’s exactly what I teach inside Bringing Baby Home, the calm, pragmatic and evidence-based guide to your baby’s first days and weeks.

We spend so much time preparing for birth - the bag, the breathing, the plan, and rightly so!

But there’s also a big transformation begins the moment you hold your baby in your arms.

That first week together is tender, raw, and full of learning.

And while it’s true that nothing can fully prepare you for it…
you can prepare to meet it with confidence, and support.

When you understand what’s biologically normal, when you have tools to optimise rest and feeding, and when you know you’re not meant to do it all alone, everything changes.

✨ You move from survival to supported.
✨ From uncertainty to understanding.
✨ From overwhelm to ease.

This is exactly what we focus on inside Bringing Baby Home
so you can enter those first days feeling held, not hurried.

Day 3 with a newborn can look like: heavier breasts, more feeds, emotional ups + downs, shorter hospital contact than you thought, and that overwhelming “now we’re home” moment.

Here’s what helps:
• Know the milk-“coming in” physiology and what it might feel like.
• Recognise the hormone shift and give yourself kindness.
• Set up your support before you need it.
• Let yourself learn. You and your baby are not behind.

If you’d like a gentle, evidence-based guide to your first week (so Day 3 doesn’t blindside you) the waitlist for Bringing Baby Home is open.
