I hardly speak out on an issue like this, but the situation in Gaza has reached a point where I can not, in good conscious, remain silent.
So please accept my apologies if you feel this is out of place.
There are 2.3 million people living in Gaza, in an area that would fit inside of Sydney 33 times over.
Gaza is the most heavily populated place on Earth.
During the cause of the last 4 weeks, 25,000 tonnes of explosives have been fired on Gaza..
To put that in perspective, the 2 nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are estimated to be equivalent to 15,000 tonnes of explosives.
The level of human carnage and horror is unimaginable.
9,488 people are estimated to have killed so far; 3900 of which are children.
That is a child killed every 10 mins. One child killed every 10 mins.
There are an estimated 2,200 people still buried under the rubble. They simply do not have the machinery required to reach them.
Half of the hospitals in Gaza have been closed due to damage and lack of fuel. Without outside intervention, the remaining hospitals will follow suit in the coming days.
The world needs to demand a ceasefire. Defence and justice can not be sorted at the expense of this level of indiscriminate loss of life.
This little clip from Senator Bernie Sanders (USA), a man from the Jewish faith, expresses our anxiety quite well:

What can we do?
Educate ourselves.
Ignorance of the situation clouds the mind and soul from its moral duty.
This is all I humbly request of you. Everything else will follow from there on its own.
I just ask you to educate yourselves so we can stop the signs of history repeating itself.
“Born in Gaza” streamed through Netflix is a good place to start, as is “Farha” also on Netflix.
I would be happy to recommend other material as well. Just reach out to me.
The world is widly watching while Gaza is ruthlessly and systematically ethnically cleansed. The silence is deafening to me.
There can never be a justification for this level of carnage.
I can not remain silent.
