Neglected Musicals will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL for limited performances at Foundry Theatre from 15 October.

This 1945 musical the second from the creators of Oklahoma follows carousel barker Billy Bigelow, a swaggering, carefree carnival barker, falls in love with and marries the sweet but naive Julie Jordan. A stunning tale of hope, redemption and the power of love.

The original Broadway Production opened on 19 April 1945 and features the musical theatre classics If I Loved You , June Is Busting Out All over and You’ll Never Walk Alone The 1956 Movie version stared Gordan MacRea and Shirley Jones.

Directed By Lisa Callingham this will be Neglected Musicals 36th presentation

Stephen Anderson (Gutenberg!, Titanique) will play Kurt Weill, with Stefanie Caccamo (Well Behaved Women, Into the Woods) as Lotte Lenya.
Joining them will be Jeremi Campese (Sweeney Todd, Lord of the Rings) as Brecht; Thomas Campbell (A Man of No Importance, Head Over Heels) as Otto; Hannah McInerney (Bright Star, Fan Girls) as Brecht’s wife; and Kat Hoyos (A Man of No Importance, Jersey Boys) as Brecht’s women.

With a book by Alfred Uhry (Pulitzer Prize winner, Driving Miss Daisy), LoveMusik is an epic romance, set in Berlin, Paris, Broadway and Hollywood, spanning 25 years in the lives of this complicated couple. From their courtship and early collaborations in Europe, through their journey to America and the debut of the landmark musical The Threepenny Opera, LoveMusik gets deep inside this fascinating partnership.
