🌈 Eat a Rainbow! 🌈
Last week at St Mark’s Preschool, we explored the colourful world of Rainbow Foods! Children engaged their senses by smelling, touching, and tasting real fruits and veggies in every colour. We even made our own rainbow vegetable stew—delicious and nutritious! 🫑 🍅 🧅 🍄🟫 🥕 🎃 🍆
Learning extended into painting, drawing, colour sorting, and investigating our own lunchboxes to find the most and least popular food colours. (Red was the clear favourite in Banksia Room! ❤️)
Through hands-on, meaningful play, we’re supporting healthy habits and exploring the world around us—connecting beautifully to the EYLF outcomes of wellbeing, identity, and learning.

♻️ Big Ideas from Small Things! 🏗️✨
Our recyclable materials could turn into so many amazing things! 📦
Children dove into box construction, using small boxes, glue, scissors, sticky tape, ribbons, paper rolls, containers, sticks, egg cartons. They turn their ideas into amazing creation- full of imagination, engineering and storytelling.
Children also explored how to connect texta lids into shapes.
These kinds of open-ended projects encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking — aligning with the Early Years Learning Framework l
🟢 Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
🟢 Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world
And it’s a perfect way to explore sustainability — reusing everyday materials to invent, create, and care for our planet.

🖐️✨ All About Fine Motor Skills! ✨✏️
Did you know that fine motor skills are the building blocks for a strong pencil grip and writing success later in school? At St Mark’s preschool, we’re laying the foundation every single day — and it’s a lot more fun than it sounds.
From the monkey bars to snipping with scissors, squishing play dough, painting masterpieces, and threading beads — every activity helps strengthen those tiny finger muscles.
These playful moments are actually big steps toward school readiness! Writing, drawing, and mark-making all become easier when children develop strong, coordinated hands and fingers.
So next time you see your child busy connecting beads or painting their 5th rainbow of the day — know they’re hard at work getting ready for their future!

We are celebrating World Bee Day at preschool this week by learning all about the importance of bees in our environment and the vital role that they play in our food production! Tomorrow we are joining in with the Great Bee Morning Tea by making honey sandwiches to support Australian beekeepers.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our lovely Mum's, we hope you all have a wonderful day doing what you like to do best!

🍁 Seasons are changing and so are we! 🌦️
This week at St Mark’s preschool, children in Banksia have been learning all about seasons, weather, and the magic of autumn! 🍂
To bring the learning to life, we played a fun and active game called “Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down”—and just like the leaves, we twirled, danced, and floated to the ground.
