To our Spunky Monkeys educators: thank you for seeing every child, believing in their potential and bringing patience, knowledge, intention and heart to your work each day.

Today, on Early Childhood Educators’ Day, we recognise early childhood education for what it truly is—work that helps shape a child’s understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

An educator sees learning in the everyday moments.

When a child waits for a turn, they are learning patience and respect.

When they keep trying to complete something difficult, they are building confidence and persistence.

When they are supported through a big emotion, they are learning that they are safe, understood and not alone.

When an educator listens closely to a child’s ideas, that child learns that their voice matters.

Our educators notice the things that can easily go unseen—the emerging interests, the quiet changes, the new confidence and the different ways each child communicates and connects.

They create relationships that allow children to feel safe enough to explore, make mistakes, try again and discover who they are.

While no gift could ever fully reflect the value of the work you do, we hope these small gifts serve as a reminder that your contribution is seen, valued and deeply appreciated.

Although the impact of your work may not always be visible straight away, it becomes part of the foundation each child carries with them into the future.

Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day to our incredible team.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Georgina! 🎉

Today we are celebrating Georgina and wishing her a very Happy Birthday! 💜💚

Georgina has now been part of the Spunky Monkeys family for 9 years, beginning her journey with us as a trainee at our Lemongrove service in 2017 before joining the Penrith team in 2023.

Over the years, Georgina has continued to grow within Spunky Monkeys and is now an important part of our Penrith leadership team. As Lead Educator in the Chimpanzee Room and our 2IC, she is a great support to the children, families and educators across the service.

Georgina brings plenty of energy and personality to her days and has built strong relationships with our Penrith families.

We hope you have a fantastic birthday, Georgina, and enjoy being celebrated today! 🎂🎈

Please join us in wishing Georgina a very Happy Birthday! 💜💚

Safe sleep is important for every baby, both at home and while in care.

Red Nose recommends six key steps to help reduce the risk of sudden infant death for babies aged 0–12 months:

• Always place baby on their back to sleep
• Keep baby’s face and head uncovered
• Keep baby smoke-free before and after birth
• Provide a safe sleeping environment during the day and at night
• Sleep baby in their own safe sleep space in a parent or caregiver’s room for the first six months

We encourage all families with babies aged 0–12 months to read the Red Nose Safe Sleeping information and learn more about creating a safe sleep environment:

🎉 Happy Birthday, Maea! 🎉

Today we are celebrating the lovely Maea and wishing her a very Happy Birthday! 🥳💜💚

Maea joined the Spunky Monkeys family in February 2025 at our Cranebrook service, and since then it has been wonderful to watch her grow in her career. She has completed her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and has recently made the move across to our Penrith team, with plans to continue her studies and work towards her Diploma.

Maea is now a Room Assistant in our Gorilla Room, while also lending a very helpful hand in our kitchen three days each week – showing just how versatile and supportive she is! 💜

Although she is still relatively new to our Penrith families, Maea has already become a wonderful part of the team. She is always willing to help wherever she is needed and brings a caring, supportive approach to her work. Most importantly, she has a beautiful way with the children and is already building some wonderful relationships within the Gorilla Room.

Maea, we are so happy to have you as part of our Penrith team and look forward to watching you continue to learn, grow and achieve your goals with Spunky Monkeys.

We hope you have the most wonderful birthday! 🎂🎈

Please join us in wishing Maea a very Happy Birthday! 💜💚

Last week Spunky Monkeys Penrith celebrated NAIDOC Week, a special occasion where the children and educators further explored traditional learning through arts and crafts, dreamtime stories and learning experiences where children’s creativity and imagination ran wild. The children participated in a range of experiences throughout the week from matching games, sensory trays, small world provocations and even creating our own rainbow serpent.
It was another fabulous week of learning here at Spunky Monkeys Penrith.

During June at Spunky Monkeys Penrith, we ‘dived’ into learning and explored ocean week. This was very exciting as we welcomed our centre fish. The children love checking on them each day and we look forward to getting the children involved in their feeding schedule.

🌟🐵 Celebrating 15 Incredible Years with Spunky Monkeys! 🐵🌟

This month, we are incredibly proud to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone for one of our longest-serving and most treasured educators, Marisa Wheeler, who celebrates an amazing 15 years with Spunky Monkeys! 💛🎉

Want to know what 15 years in Early Childhood Education might look like?

🍌 Peeled approximately 17,000 bananas.
🩹 Applied enough band-aids to cover an entire classroom.
🧦 Reunited hundreds of tiny socks, hats and drink bottles with their rightful owners.
👶 Mastered the art of rocking a baby while simultaneously reading a story, pouring milk and locating a missing shoe.
🎂 Sung *Happy Birthday* so many times that you instinctively know when to speed up at the end.
🧸 Become an expert at finding comforters, dummy chains and that one special toy that simply cannot be lost.
🏃 Perfected the *"educator power walk"* – fast enough to supervise everyone, slow enough not to make it look like you're running.
🪑 Sat on thousands of tiny chairs and somehow still managed to get back up again.
💬 Had countless conversations beginning with, *"Can you look at this?"* or *"Watch me!"*
💕 Received more hugs, handmade cards and heartfelt *"You're my favourite teacher!"* moments than anyone could ever count.

Over Marisa's 15 years with us, she has dedicated an incredible 780 weeks, approximately 3,900 days, and more than 29,000 hours to nurturing, supporting and inspiring children and families at Spunky Monkeys.

Fifteen years is a long time in Early Childhood Education. In fact, a baby Marisa cuddled, comforted and settled to sleep during her very first days at Spunky Monkeys could now be a teenager in high school, preparing for exams, learning to drive, applying for their first casual job or beginning to think about what comes next after school. It is a beautiful reminder that Early Childhood Educators don't just care for children in the moment – they become part of childhood memories and help lay the foundations for a lifetime of learning. 💛

Marisa's warmth, patience, knowledge and unwavering commitment to Early Childhood Education have made her an integral part of the Spunky Monkeys family. She is a familiar face to so many children and families and a valued mentor and friend to her colleagues.

Fifteen years is more than a milestone. It is a testament to loyalty, passion and the incredible difference one educator can make in the lives of hundreds of children and families.

Marisa, thank you for your dedication, your kindness and the love you pour into your work every single day. We are so grateful that you have chosen to spend the past 15 years growing alongside Spunky Monkeys.

Please join us in congratulating Marisa on 15 amazing years with Spunky Monkeys! 🎉🐵💛

🌟 Celebrating 10 Years with Spunky Monkeys! 🌟

At our recent Annual Spunky Monkeys Educators Conference, we had the privilege of celebrating two incredible educators who have each dedicated 10 years to Spunky Monkeys. 🎉

This year, we recognised Sam and Georgia for reaching this remarkable milestone.

In 10 years at Spunky Monkeys, you might have:

☕ Drunk enough coffee to fill a swimming pool.
📚 Read enough stories to start your own library.
👟 Walked enough laps of the playground to travel around Australia.
🖍️ Gone through enough paint, glitter and craft supplies to open an art store.
🤧 Wiped approximately one million noses.
💬 Answered "Why?" more times than anyone could possibly count.
🎓 Helped hundreds of children learn, grow and head off to school.
🤗 Received thousands of hugs, high fives and handmade treasures.
🌱 Watched children grow up, then return years later with younger siblings.

And somewhere in between all of that...

💛 Sam joined Spunky Monkeys as a trainee and has spent her entire 10-year journey at our Lemongrove service. During that time, she completed her traineeship, achieved her Diploma qualification and became a confident and valued Assistant Educator in our Gorilla Room. Sam is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed and has supported other services when required. Along the way, she has also celebrated some wonderful personal milestones, including getting married and welcoming her first child.

💛 Georgia's journey with Spunky Monkeys began as a trainee at Lemongrove and saw her grow through multiple roles across Lemongrove, Cranebrook and Penrith before becoming Centre Director at Penrith. Over the past decade, she has demonstrated dedication, resilience and a genuine passion for Early Childhood Education.

Although Georgia has recently moved interstate with her family, reaching this 10-year milestone is a wonderful reminder of the impact she has had on so many children, families and educators throughout her time with Spunky Monkeys. We are incredibly proud to have been part of her journey and wish her every success in this exciting new chapter.

Ten years is more than a work anniversary.

It represents ten years of relationships built, children nurtured, families supported and memories created. It represents loyalty, growth, resilience and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children.

Over ten years ago, Sam and Georgia joined Spunky Monkeys as trainees. Today, their stories are a testament to the opportunities, growth and lifelong connections that can be built in Early Childhood Education.

Congratulations on this incredible milestone. We are so proud to celebrate you both. 💛🐵

🌟 Celebrating 5 Years with Spunky Monkeys! 🌟

At our recent Annual Spunky Monkeys Educators Conference, we celebrated team members reaching important service milestones.

This year, we recognised Gloria, Megan and Bridget for reaching an incredible 5 Years of Service with Spunky Monkeys! 🎉

In 5 years at Spunky Monkeys, you might have:

☕ Consumed enough coffee to keep a small café in business.
📚 Read The Very Hungry Caterpillar more times than Eric Carle ever imagined.
🖍️ Removed paint, glitter and playdough from places they should never have ended up.
👟 Walked enough laps of the playground to complete several marathons.
🍎 Prepared approximately 4,000 fruit platters.
🤧 Wiped more noses than you thought humanly possible.
💬 Answered “Why?” at least 50,000 times.
🦖 Become an expert in dinosaurs, princesses, construction vehicles and Bluey.
🎨 Admired thousands of masterpieces and confidently identified every scribble as a “beautiful drawing.”
🤗 Received enough hugs to last a lifetime.

And somewhere in between all of that…

💛 Gloria joined us as a dedicated casual educator who was always willing to jump in and help wherever needed. Today, she is a valued Assistant Educator in our Babies Cottage at Lemongrove, where her caring and supportive nature helps our youngest learners thrive.

💛 Megan started her journey as a trainee before taking time away to welcome her first baby. Since returning, she has supported both Penrith and Cranebrook before returning to Lemongrove, where she now leads our Babies Cottage team (when she’s not busy enjoying maternity leave!).

💛 Bridget also began with us as a trainee and has continued to grow throughout her career with Spunky Monkeys. Today, she leads our Orangutan Room at Lemongrove and is a valued mentor and leader within the team.

Not bad for five years! 🎉

Thank you, Gloria, Megan and Bridget, for your dedication, passion and commitment to our children, families and teams over the past five years. We are so proud to celebrate this milestone with you.
