Let’s Play Day Care is a Steiner influenced long daycare set in a warm and nurturing home like environment specifically tailored for 2-6 years. It is a play based curriculum full of joy and wonder that supports the child’s social and cognitive skills as well as their fine and gross motor skills by appealing to the emotions and feelings of the child and bringing it into action. The children in this age group learn through experiencing the world through movement, doing, and imitation and there is a beautiful balance between free play and structure that gives rhythm and routine to the day and the week. Children's play supports creative problem solving so the environement is filled with beautiful indoor natural hand crafted toys and open ended play materials as well as a lovely garden area with a sandpit, cubby house/mud kitchen, worm farm and more.

✨ What if we’ve been measuring participation all wrong?

When you look at this circle, what do you see?

Most people will notice the children clapping with their whole bodies, smiling from ear to ear, marching confidently around the circle…

But do you know what we see? We notice the little one in the green vest. 💚

At first glance, it might look like he’s “not really joining in.” But we see something completely different.

We see a child who feels safe.

Safe enough to watch.

Safe enough to listen.

Safe enough to join in with just his hands before he’s ready to join in with his whole body.

And that’s okay. Actually… That’s exactly what we hope to see.

One of the biggest misconceptions in early childhood is that participation has to look the same for every child. It really doesn’t.

Some children jump straight in.

Some quietly observe.

Some need to watch the song ten times before they sing it on the eleventh.

They’re all learning.

They’re all participating.

They’re all exactly where they need to be.

At Let’s Play, we strongly believe our job isn’t to make every child look the same.

It’s to to create an environment where every child feels safe enough to become themselves.

Because maybe the question isn’t…

“Is my child participating?”

Maybe it’s…

“Does my child feel safe enough to participate in their own way?” 

Every child deserves to be seen for who they are…

not who we expect them to be.

✨ Before there was Miss Rachel…

there were songs like this.

Simple songs.

Songs sung face-to-face.

Songs with movement, rhythm, eye contact and connection.

Songs that invited children to join in rather than simply watch.

At first glance, this looks like a silly little winter song.

But beneath it, children are practicing:

✨ listening
✨ memory
✨ coordination
✨ attention
✨ confidence
✨ language
✨ following instructions

And perhaps most importantly…

they’re sharing a moment with another human being.

No flashing lights.

No fast edits.

No overstimulation.

Just music, movement, imagination and connection.

That’s why songs like this have been passed from generation to generation.

Because children don’t need more entertainment.

They need meaningful experiences that invite them to participate.

Long after the lanterns have faded, the Winter Festival has passed, and childhood is behind them…

At Let’s Play, we believe children need more than activities.

They need traditions.

Rituals.

Moments that return year after year and become woven into the fabric of childhood.

This is one of our favourite Winter Festival songs, sung each year as we prepare for our Evening Winter Lantern Walk ✨

The children learn the words.

Create their lanterns.

Wait in anticipation.

Then gather with their families to walk together by lantern light.

Because magic doesn’t happen by accident.

It’s intentionally created through the small moments children come to know and love.

And one day they may find themselves singing these same songs to children of their own 🤍

While you’re working… childhood is still unfolding 🍂

Most preschools wouldn’t stop their morning to sing beneath Autumn trees.
We do.

Why?

Because we believe childhood learning lives in the small moments.

As adults rushing to work, timekeeping, and managing the day-to-day chaos, it’s easy to lose sight of what childhood is truly about.

It’s not just about who learns their 1, 2, 3’s first… or who can memorise facts the quickest.

It’s about the moments quietly shaping who the child becomes as a person.

Many of our families share the same worry:
“I’m working… but I still want my child nurtured.”
“If I’m at work, who’s caring for my child with the same values I would?”

Well… we are

At Let’s Play, we believe childhood is something far more sacred than milestones, checklists, and rushing children toward the next stage.

So we stop to smell the roses.

We engage the children deeply with the real world around them.

We leave the four walls of the classroom daily and step out into the community to experience learning firsthand.

To sing beneath Autumn trees, we first walk there together.

Along the way, the children are practicing:
✨ road safety
✨ confidence
✨ kindness
✨ social awareness
✨ staying together as a group
✨ connecting with their wider community

And perhaps most importantly…

they are learning that childhood is not something to rush through.

It’s something to fully live.

This IS education… just not the kind most people recognise anymore.

Children don’t learn Autumn from worksheets.

They learn it by living it 🍂

By feeling crisp air on their skin.
By crunching leaves beneath their feet.
By watching colours change before their eyes.
By singing songs beneath Autumn trees while red and golden leaves fall from above.

This isn’t “just play.”

This is sensory integration.
Language development.
Seasonal awareness.
Gross motor movement.
Rhythm.
Connection.
Wonder.

And most importantly…

it allows the child to truly experience the world with their whole body before being asked to intellectualise it.

At Let’s Play, we don’t rush children through childhood in the name of education.

We use childhood AS the education.

Because children learn best when something is lived, felt, touched, smelled, sung, explored, and experienced in real time.

Truthfully, what looks simple on the surface is often deeply intentional underneath.

And these are the kinds of experiences that build children who feel grounded, capable, connected, and ready to learn later on.

This is what early childhood was always meant to feel like and somewhere along the way, childhood became rushed.
