Join us at SCA Gallery for the opening and recipient announcement of the SCA Alumni Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarships 2026.

The SCA Alumni Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarships support SCA graduates to pursue a program of professional development through travel.

The scholarships are open to all SCA alumni across two categories: a $15,000 Emerging Scholarship and a $30,000 Mid-career/Established Scholarship.

An incredible lineup of nine SCA alumni has been selected across two categories.

The judging panel for this year’s Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarship includes Professor Julie Rrap, Director of SCA, Rachel Kent, CEO of Bundanon, and artist Judy Watson.

Gilbert Fellowship Lecture | Tony Albert in conversation with Daniel Browning

This week, Tony Albert joins us on campus for a lecture in conversation with Bundjalung and Kullilli writer, journalist and cultural critic Daniel Browning.

The conversation will consider how personal and collective histories shape his work, alongside recent developments including his 2026 survey exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.

Daniel Browning is Professor of Indigenous Cultural and Creative Industries at the University of Sydney and an award-winning writer, journalist and broadcaster.

Gilbert Fellowship Lecture | Tina Havelock Stevens in conversation with Jo Higgins

Next week, Tina Havelock Stevens joins us on campus for a lecture in conversation by arts writer, researcher Jo Higgins. Tina will discuss her interdisciplinary practice, which spans moving image, photography, performance, sound, archives, mixed media and public art.

The conversation will explore how her background in post-punk music and observational documentary filmmaking informs her approach to improvisation, site and social engagement, as well as her sustained interest in the emotional, environmental and cultural dimensions of place.

The Japanese-Australian artist, Mitsuo Shoji has cultivated a thoughtful dialogue with clay for six decades, developing a practice that reflects both mastery and continual invention. Born and trained in Japan before eventually settling in Australia via the United States, Shoji has become one of the most influential figures in Australian ceramics, shaping generations of artists through his work and teaching.

This exhibition presents a selection of works spanning the breadth of Shoji’s oeuvre, from refined functional vessels to sculpture, installation and his innovative ceramic paintings. Together, these works reveal an artist driven by curiosity, whose lifelong engagement with material and process continues to generate new possibilities.

At its core is the act of encounter: a meeting with materials, objects, places, cultures and people driven by memory and lived experience.

For Warburton, encounters emerge through the foreign and the familiar, the everyday and the significant, the minute and the global. They are shaped by personal, generational and collective memory, by activism, and by the specificity of place. An encounter may be a first meeting—unexpected, surprising and unfamiliar—or a return to something known, revealed anew through a different perspective. In every instance, it is an intimate exchange.

Bringing together 21 artists from 20 art schools across Australia, Hatched is one of the country’s significant platforms for emerging contemporary artists.

Since 1992, Hatched has exhibited the work of more than 1,400 art school graduates, selected by a panel of nationally acclaimed artists and curators.
