The coaching industry is experiencing explosive growth, but with it comes a concerning trend: the rise of "instant coaches" – individuals who complete weekend courses or watch a few YouTube videos before hanging out their shingle.
Let me be clear about the difference:
Weekend Certification Programs:
- 16-20 hours of basic training
- Limited practical experience
- Minimal supervision
- Generic techniques
- No accreditation oversight
Comprehensive Professional Training:
- 120+ hours of intensive coursework
- Supervised practice sessions
- Real-world client scenarios
- Evidence-based methodologies
- Rigorous ethical standards
- Ongoing professional development
This is why I invested years in obtaining multiple accreditations from the following bodies:
- International Coach Federation (ICF) - the gold standard in coaching
- American Board of NLP (ABNLP) - for advanced communication and change techniques
- The Time Line Therapy Association (TLT) - for removing the root cause of limiting decisions, negative emotions, doubts, fears and insecurities
- American Board of Hypnotherapy (ABH) - for deeper behavioural change work
I have recently been recognised as a Chartered Fellow of the Association for Professional Coaching & Hypnotherapy (ACCPH) for the work we do here at the Mindset Coach Academy in the field of mindset coaching.
When someone trusts you with their mindset, they're giving you access to their most vulnerable spaces. Their dreams. Their fears. Their deep-seated beliefs. This is sacred territory that demands proper training, ethical boundaries, and professional expertise.
As someone interested in mindset coaching, you have a choice:
You can take the quick route – get a basic certification and start coaching immediately. Many do.
I invite you to reflect: What level of preparation would you want your own coach to have?

How to balance support and challenge to create lasting transformation for your clients 👇
When clients struggle to act on their commitments, it’s not always due to a lack of discipline or motivation.
More often, it’s because:
They don’t feel fully supported to take that leap.
The challenges presented feel overwhelming or misaligned with their current capacity.
Underlying mindset barriers—like limiting beliefs or fear of failure—are holding them back.
So how do you create an environment where clients feel both supported and stretched, empowering them to take consistent, meaningful action?
Here’s how you can balance support and challenge in your coaching sessions so you can help your clients have lasting transformations:
1️⃣ Build Trust First:
Trust is the foundation of any coaching relationship. By cultivating a safe, non-judgmental space, you allow clients to open up and explore their fears and challenges. When clients feel supported, they’re more likely to embrace the challenges you present.
2️⃣ Incremental Challenges:
Gradually increase the level of challenge as your client builds confidence. Start small with manageable steps and build from there. For example, rather than overloading them with a complex goal, break it into bite-sized milestones that feel achievable.
3️⃣ Uncover Mindset Barriers:
When clients struggle to follow through, dig deeper to identify any limiting beliefs or fears. Tools like reframing exercises, belief work, or even hypnotherapy can help clients address these blocks, empowering them to take consistent action.
4️⃣ Create Accountability:
Introduce tools like progress trackers, journaling, or regular check-ins to help clients stay on track and celebrate their wins along the way.
5️⃣ Adapt to Their Needs:
Coaching is not one-size-fits-all. Tailor your strategies to align with your client’s lifestyle and capacity. When something isn’t working, adjust the approach and collaborate to find what resonates.
Balancing challenge and support isn’t about pushing your clients relentlessly or coddling them into complacency—it’s about creating a partnership where they feel empowered to stretch beyond their limits while knowing they have a safety net.
When you master this balance, you’re not just helping your clients achieve their goals; you’re equipping them with the mindset and tools to thrive long after the coaching relationship ends.
If this resonates with you and you’d like to dive deeper into creating powerful, client-centered coaching relationships…

Ever had a client who’s all in during your session, agreeing to the action steps, but then struggles to follow through afterward?
It’s a common frustration for many coaches.
You feel like you’re doing everything right—providing support, clear goals, and actionable strategies—yet something seems to be missing.
This challenge often lies in finding the perfect balance between support and challenge.
Leaning too heavily into support might mean your clients feel safe but lack the push they need to step out of their comfort zones.
On the other hand, too much challenge without adequate support can leave clients feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or doubting their abilities.
As coaches, mastering the balance of support and challenge is critical to creating lasting transformations.
The key to helping clients follow through lies in reframing your thoughts about progress and transformation.
It’s not just about ticking off tasks; it’s about shifting your client’s mindset to see growth as a process.
When you understand that support is not about doing the work for them and challenge isn’t about pushing them into discomfort too soon, you start to see your role differently.
Your job is to guide them into the mindset of growth and possibility.
👉 Help them see challenges as stepping stones, not roadblocks.
👉 Frame progress as building confidence, not achieving perfection.
👉 Teach them to trust the process rather than fixating on immediate results.
When you adopt this belief as a coach, you create a space where clients feel supported enough to step into discomfort—and confident enough to stay the course when it gets hard.
The secret isn’t just about finding the right steps for your client—it’s about helping them redefine what success looks like.
When you create a coaching space that balances empathy with accountability, you’re equipping your clients with something deeper than a checklist.
You’re giving them the mindset to succeed beyond your sessions.

How to leverage technology for effective, interactive coaching 💻
Let’s face it—moving to online coaching brings a unique set of challenges.
Without the in-person connection, it can feel tough to keep your sessions as engaging and focused.
But the right tech setup can change everything.
It can help you create an interactive, distraction-free environment that keeps your clients deeply engaged and focused on their goals.
Here are the top three ways to make technology work for you and your clients:
🔹 Choose reliable platforms for stability
Using a dependable video platform like Zoom or Skype ensures a consistent, interruption-free experience.
Stable connectivity allows both you and your client to stay fully present, creating a professional and smooth coaching session.
🔹 Utilise screen sharing to enhance engagement
Screen sharing can make your sessions more interactive by letting clients follow along in real-time.
Reviewing a document, strategy, or mindset assessment on-screen helps clients visualise key concepts, keeping them engaged and focused on the process.
🔹 Integrate collaborative tools like Trello or Google Sheets
With tools like Trello or Google Sheets, you can create action plans, track goals, and measure progress collaboratively.
Clients can see and update their progress between sessions, adding a sense of ownership and active involvement in their development.
Technology is a powerful ally in online coaching, allowing you to connect, engage, and inspire clients just as deeply as in person.
By choosing reliable platforms, leveraging screen-sharing tools, and integrating collaborative systems, you can foster a streamlined, interactive coaching environment that leads to powerful client transformations.
If this resonated with you and you’re ready to learn more about creating lasting change for your clients and building a thriving online coaching practice…
