Great day in Wollongong representing the Migration Institute of Australia with Jonathan Granger and George Lombard in the MIA's regional outreach program with Department of Home Affairs and Regional Development Australia. Hosted by RDA Illawarra, the employer and migrant sessions were a great success promoting the value of using an MIA member for professional immigration advice.
Fantastic presentations from Department Home Affairs Business , Industry and Regional Outreach ( BIRO), Work + Stay , Services NSW and Illawarra Multicultural Services to guide local employers and migrants towards successful immigration solutions and moat importantly, how to get the best advice from migration practitioners.

Great news for international students
The Prime Minister has announced yesterday that all international students are permitted to work unrestricted hours in response to the critical labour shortages in Australia. While this will be temporary not a permanent rule for visa holders it extends to all students and not just critical industry sectors such as hospitality industry who already have this concession.
The PM stated in a media statement yesterday
"The Commonwealth has already lifted the 20-hour rule on student visa holders. That decision’s already been taken. That was taken yesterday, after the meetings we had yesterday. So students will have no hour restrictions on them being able to, available for work in Australia if they’re already here"
International students allowed to work more hours to help ease COVID worker shortage
The federal government removes working-hour caps on international students, allowing more people to help fill worker shortages caused by the Omicron outbreak.
