Alfred Academy Early Learning Centre and Pre School

Ms Wendy who has 23 years in the child care sector invited our toddler children to gather on the mat for a special “mystery touch-and-feel” activity. She hid different objects and encouraged the children to explore using only their sense of touch. As each child reached in, she asked guiding questions like:
“Is it hard or soft? Smooth or rough? Long or short? What do you think it is?”
Making learning fun and engaging is what we do. This exposure to mathematical and descriptive language enhances vocabulary in preparation for their transition to our Preshool room next year!

Science on rainy days...What a fun indoor experience for our preschoolers on a wet day! Using a balloon, toilet roll and craft pom poms to create ball blasters! Developing hand eye coordination to the target and learning all about science through play based experiences! Super fun!

Our Amaroo Toddlers have made the most of the wet weather last week! They were fascinated with shadows! We can't wait to see what else we will notice about this amazing scientific concept this week ❤️

Our Illoura preschoolers are learning all about time- including months of the year, days of the week, and seasons. Our educators and children keep creating many fun ways to learn about these early mathematical concepts!

Our Illoura preschool children have shown interest in writing and books. Last week, they initiated creating their own cookbooks! With support from their educators, they created individual recipe books, drawing each ingredient and coming up with all kinds of creative recipes!
