To our Cumberland Education Family,

It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of one of our inspirational founders, Dr William J. Martin.

Dr Martin dedicated his life to supporting students with learning challenges and advocating tirelessly for the rights of individuals with Dyslexia. Together with Mrs Martin, he co-founded Cumberland Education in 1969, and his legacy continues through the thousands of families, students, and educators whose lives he touched.

Dr Martin’s compassion, dedication, humour, and unwavering commitment to education will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We warmly invite those who wish to celebrate Dr Martin’s life with us to attend his funeral service (details in the image above).

Cumberland Education has closed its (physical) doors after 32 years of operation in Belmore Street East, and after approximately 50 years of operation in the Oatlands area!

But don’t worry — although we are no longer in Belmore Street East, we have moved online, and all our services are still available!

Cumberland Education has helped thousands of children in the area and have employed many locals, particularly university students on their pathway to becoming teachers themselves.

Although this notion is being dispelled in the USA, unfortunately it will likely take a little longer to change the minds of Australian professionals working with dyslexic students.
