Where children learn matters just as much as how they learn. And learnng doesn't stop at the door of the classroom.

Our indoor and outdoor environments are thoughtfully designed to be an extension of our learning program, creating spaces where children can explore, investigate, create, move, connect and simply be children.

Inside, you’ll find calm, welcoming spaces filled with beautiful, open-ended resources that invite curiosity and encourage children to follow their interests. Outside, learning gets bigger, muddier and a little more adventurous, with opportunities to climb, build, dig, balance, discover and test growing capabilities.

We see the environment as the third teacher, which means every space has purpose, while still feeling warm, familiar and truly lived in.

DMW isn’t meant to feel like just a childcare centre.

💛 R U OK? Day at DMW Engadine 💛

Today was a lovely reminder that checking in can happen at any age.

The children participated in age-appropriate activities and conversations about feelings, kindness, caring for others and the importance of asking, “Are you OK?” There was plenty of yellow throughout the day, from creative experiences to some very special cupcakes!
Our team also took time to check in with one another and share the things they value and appreciate about their teammates.

A simple conversation can make a big differencenot just today, but every day. At DMW, we are always here to listen. 💛

Our spaces are thoughtfully and purposefully designed to feel calm, welcoming and familiar, creating a true home away from home where children feel safe, secure and ready to explore.

From the resources we choose to the way each space is arranged, our environments are created around the children within them, supporting their individual needs, interests, independence and stage of learning and development.

This Science Week, we’re celebrating the curiosity, discovery and BIG questions that make science so exciting!

We love having Ranger Jamie and the team as a regular part of our Preschool Program, bringing science and STEM to life through fun, hands-on experiences that encourage our children to explore, experiment, problem-solve and wonder.

STEM isn’t just for Science Week at DMW. It’s part of how we inspire curious minds all year round!

Where curiosity takes the lead in learning...
Our little ones gathered around the aquarium, watching the fish, noticing their movements and sharing their thoughts about what they could see.

Experiences like this naturally encourage observation, conversation and curiosity, as children explore and make sense of the world around them.

Working alongside our friends, contributing ideas and sharing suggestions as we created our very own marble run!

Through testing, adjusting and trying again, we explored concepts such as gravity, speed, direction and cause and effect, all while building teamwork, problem-solving and persistence.

A New Chapter for Our Social Media!

The rights, privacy, safety and dignity of every child is at the heart of everything we do.

Through our ongoing critical reflection process, we have made the decision to move to a faceless approach across our social media platforms, allowing us to continue celebrating children’s learning while better protecting their identity and digital footprint.

You’ll still see all the wonderful things that make DMW special: children’s incredible work, their voices and ideas, our engaging program, beautiful environments and the learning adventures happening every day.

What does negotiation and cooperative play sound like in four-year-olds?

It might sound like children deciding who gets to be the builder, sharing ideas, asking questions, or having a lively debate about where the next block should go!

When children work together towards a shared goal, we see and hear cooperative play happening. It typically begins to emerge around four years of age and is an important milestone in social development.

Sometimes those conversations sound bossy, excited or determined... and that's all part of the learning. Every discussion is an opportunity to practise communication, problem solving, compromise and teamwork, one colourful creation at a time.
