Year 12 Homeless Outreach Program
On Saturday, 20 September 2025, our Year 12 students and teachers took part in a truly memorable Homeless Outreach Program with Brothers in Need.
Students worked together at the Punchbowl distribution centre to sort and prepare 260 food and Quran packs, before heading to Martin Place to personally distribute them to those in need. Along the way, they experienced the importance of teamwork, gratitude, compassion and service to the community – lessons that left a lasting impact on everyone involved.
The evening finished with a bonding trip to Milsons Point, where staff and students were surprised with a spectacular and rather unexpected fireworks display – the perfect finale to a day of giving, learning and joy.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Year 12 students and the families who supported this initiative.
May Allah SWT accept from everyone and reward you all abundantly, Ameen.

Seek to Speak 2025
“My Lord, expand for me my chest, ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue so they may understand my speech.” (Surah Taha verse 25–28)
This verse from Surah Taha emphasises the importance of speaking eloquently as Muslims so our da'wah can reach the people, and on Wednesday 17th of September when WGS held the Grand Final for our annual Seek to Speak Public Speaking Competition, our students got the chance to do just that!
After two weeks of competition, our grand finalists Yasser Mohammed, Ubaidullah Hasim, and Nabil Ali prepared their speeches on how Muslims can reclaim the biased narrative of Islam that the media propagates.
With Nabil unfortunately sick, Yasser and Ubaidullah went head to head. Both had brilliant speeches and exhibited great public speaking skills, but Ubaidullah’s passionate voice, great use of eye contact and effective body language were second to none. Ubaidullah is our Seek to Speak Champion of 2025! Mashallah and well done!
Well done and thank you to all of our competitors. We look forward to another year of public speaking soon inshallah.
Jazakumallahu khairan,

🌐 Workshop Recap: Protecting Young Minds Online
Alhamdulillah, on 28th of August 2025, WGS held the Parent Workshop on Online Safety. Together, we explored how technology can be a tool for good but also a doorway to harm. Parents gained strategies and Islamic guidance to raise safe, resilient, and confident children in today’s digital world.
Highlights included a fun Kahoot quiz (revealing the generational gap!) and an overview of popular apps/social media platforms students are using today. With longer days and shorter school hours, families are encouraged to make the most of outdoor time — playing, exploring nature, and connecting, rather than staying indoors on screens.
📌 Key Takeaways
- Be Aware: Know what apps your children use.
- Set Boundaries: Create family rules for devices.
- Offer Alternatives: Sports, Qur’an reading, outdoor play, family activities.
- Stay Connected: Have honest conversations with your kids.
Jazakumullahu khair to all parents who attended — may Allah make this a means of protecting and guiding our children. 💻✨

WGS High School SRC Members Visit My Home Disability Services Centre in Birrong
On Wednesday 20th August, our Years 9–12 SRC members had the privilege of visiting My Home Disability Services Centre. This visit was not only an opportunity to support the centre’s incredible work in advancing the development, care, and well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities, but also a chance for our students to reflect on how they can serve the community in their own lives.
The day began with a warm welcome from the Director, Maha, who shared inspiring insights into the centre’s history, mission, and programs. Our students then took part in a variety of activities with the centre’s clients, fostering connection, understanding, and respect.
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch — sponsored by WGS and served by our students — followed by waffles and ice cream generously provided by Arkana College. It was a beautiful moment of friendship, collaboration, and community spirit.
Our students left feeling inspired, with a greater appreciation of inclusion, compassion, and active citizenship. We are so proud of them for representing WGS with kindness and enthusiasm.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with My Home Disability Services Centre to make a positive difference together.

TERM TWO PARENTING PROGRAM - SACRIFICE
On Thursday, 22nd May, we had the honour of hosting a powerful and heartfelt Parenting Program titled “Sacrifice for Our Children”, presented by the internationally renowned author Abu Muneer Ismail Davids.
Parents reflected on:
✨ The sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), Hajer (AS) and Ismail (AS)
✨ The meaning of true sacrifice in parenting — of time, emotions and finances
✨ Raising children as a legacy, with love, sincerity and tawakkul
✨ Building strong bonds of respect and trust within the home
✨ The rights of children in Islam and the role of parents in guiding with purpose
Quran and Hadith reminders grounded the session in the beauty of our Deen, leaving us all spiritually uplifted and inspired to parent with renewed intention and love.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Abu Muneer Ismail Davids for delivering such a profound presentation and to all our wonderful parents who participated with open hearts and minds.
May Allah SWT reward your efforts in raising righteous children and grant your families barakah, peace and closeness to Him. Ameen
