It was time to stop boxing myself into ‘only’ reiki practitioner, because what I do encompasses so much more. Last year I worked with a business coach to help me figure it out.
During that time I heard this quote twice, “Persistence without insight will lead to the same outcome.” (Book of Boba Fett, Ep 5, Disney Plus)
It encouraged me to keep going, because the process of articulating something that was kind of intangible with such a wide range of varying results into just a few words was painful and frustrating.
It was worth it, though, to come out the other side with the insight I required to move forward with clarity.
The insight is that ‘Emotional Health Facilitator’ is the most accurate description of what I do.
Over the last 20 years or so, there’s been a growing focus on mental health—creating awareness and education around it. De-stigmatising it. Where we were with mental health 20-30 years ago, is where we are today with emotional health.
Emotional health is the next frontier. I believe it’s the missing link in health, wellness, and enhanced performance.
Whilst there are a lot of people who already know this, it’s not mainstream yet. With time, it will be. Because think about it …
If you’ve been persisting with an area of your health or wellness (like sleep for example), and getting the same outcome (ie. not sleeping well), you can apply the wisdom of persistence without insight leading to the same outcome. So what’s the insight? Experience tells me the answer could very well lie in your emotional health.

Have you ever had a that thought or an idea to do something, to start something, to change something, or to try something—it keeps coming up again, and again; it keeps tapping you on the shoulder, again and again. But then you find yourself a few weeks, a few months, or a few years down the track, and you still haven’t done it, or even started. It’s just been a thought in your mind.
If so, then, there’s a chance that it’s a lack of self-worth that’s been holding you back. And, it can often happen unconsciously.
This conversation with Angela Raspass, in the latest podcast episode, has the potential to bring awareness to an area of your life you may be lacking self-worth in, so that you can make more conscious decisions in your life.
As Carl Jung said, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

I love hearing other people’s stories. No surface chit chat, small talk, or BS. Just the real stuff. Like when you ask someone, “How are you?” and they actually tell you the truth.
That’s what happens in the reiki groups I run. People tell me the truth because they can see I actually want to hear it, and so does the rest of the group.
Join me in a group for some real talk and remote reiki, and genuine connection.

If you’re feeling like the emotions of surfing the waves of life recently are getting too much, I can help to clear the build-up of emotional stress. When you make an appointment for an online reiki session we’ll connect on zoom, have a chat about stuff, and then I’ll send reiki to you as you lie down at home. Some people say they feel like I’m in the room with them! You can make an appointment at https://dianaedwards.com.au/

I found this quote today, that I’d typed up and stuck in the front cover of a journal that I haven’t used for about 5 years. “When purpose and faith align, there can be no failure,” by Rich Roll in his book, ‘Finding Ultra’.
When I originally read it, I took it to mean having faith in a higher power. Today when I read it again all this time later, I saw something new. I saw it as having faith in myself. And as I thought about it some more, I saw it as both; faith in myself AND faith in a higher power.
Faith in myself that I am capable. And faith in a higher power that co-creates with me. It’s been my experience, over and over again, that when I take steps towards creating something good, the Universe meets me. When I do my part, the Universe can do its part.
Rich Roll, I’m not sure how you intended these words. I tried to find it in the book again to read it in context, but I hadn’t underlined it, so it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I guess at the end of the day, what matters is how the reader receives it. Thank you for the inspiration.

For the month of August I’m offering FREE ‘Online Group Reiki’. There are 3 people in each group. We connect on zoom and start by checking in with each person; I send 30 minutes of reiki; then we check back in afterwards. We also tend to hang around for a chat afterwards for about 30 minutes!
There are 2 groups left with a couple of spots each. You’re most welcome to join us! There’s no catch. I started doing groups during this lockdown as an experiment, and have enjoyed it so much that I thought I’d do it for the month as a way to offer support. I have a belief that the more people who understand the science of positive emotion, the more our society can change for the better — particularly work culture. It stems from my own experience of learning this information, and how much of a mindset shift it catalysed in me.
This idea that our positive feelings have no purpose, other than to momentarily feel good, is outdated. 30 years of research tells us that feeling good is good for us psychologically, intellectually, physically, and socially.
And the more we truly get this, the more we’ll be able to change the way we live and work. The way we’ve been doing it is unsustainable. People have been burning out for years. I believe the change to a more sustainable and enjoyable way of living and working can start by understanding the science, because we tend to believe the science.
This podcast episode is my (small) way of contributing to that conversation, with the hope that it will at least plant the seeds of a mindset shift. It’s not strictly in the context of work (although it does come up and it’s all relevant), however, it’s a beginning to understanding the science.
Thank you Sue Langley for sharing your expertise in positive psychology, neuroscience and emotional intelligence. What I’m even more grateful for is the way you shared your experience and wisdom, that helped me understand more fully what it means to flourish.
Sue and I talk about the science of positive emotions and how they benefit us, the brain, creativity, insight, resilience and post traumatic growth.
