Lil Bro the Bunny had a Vet Visit! Daesy helped Miss Annika take Lil Bro to the vet for a regular check up, a flea and worm treatment and a needle to keep him safe from the Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV1-K5), or calicivirus which is being released into Penrith in March 2026. Staying healthy and safe is important not only for our tiny humans, but also our furry friends! Lil Bro got lots of cuddles after his vet visit and Daesy let her friends know about his needle. She explained he needed it to stay safe and Luca told her "I got a needle last year" which opened a discussion about staying healthy and the importance of vaccinations.
Good job Lil Bro!

We were so lucky to have a special guest today Anthony Zarb an author who wrote a book called Arloās treasure. He came to our school to share the story with us and to also introduce us to some different musical instruments. He played the guitar, recorder and the harmonica. He described how some instruments are stringed instruments and some are wind instruments. We had a great time dancing to the music and getting physically active before reading his lovely story Arloās treasure.
Arloās treasure is about the journey of a little mole who is looking for the ultimate treasure which turns out to be his children. Anthony got the children to repeat after him āI am the treasureā increasing a sense of safety security and well-being. The children really engaged in this group time which went for over an hour it was so lovely and so much fun. Thank you Anthony!

Wishing Miss Marion a happy SEVENTIETH birthday today! Miss Marion founded The Little Kids School in south Wentworthville back in 1975 she juggled that service along giving birth to Mr Harri and Miss Annika
Now you can find her most days at The Little Kids School Vaucluse as we try to encourage her to retire, but fail as she simply canāt leave her passion in childcare.
Happiest of birthdays Miss Marion, thank you for setting the example for excellence in our work which we strive towards each and every day! šš©·

Today we went to Glenmore Park Public school for an excursion to āwiggle giggle and readā. This was an enriching experience which the small group of children got to enjoy in an intimate environment. Today the story that Miss Magnus read was Jack and the Beanstalk which the children reenacted after the book. All children sat so quietly and patiently during the story and weāre very respectful while they listen to the story. I was so proud of all the children during this excursion who listened well engaged in their creativity and used comprehensive thinking to answer questions and retell the story. This activity is open to the public and runs every other Thursday from 2:15pm-2:45pm so if Thursday isnāt your childās regular day at LKS, why not come down and say āheyā next fortnight?

3 DAY GUARENTEE - CCS CHANGES IN 2026
The Australian Government is making early childhood education and care (ECEC) more accessible by introducing significant changes to the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Activity Test.
What Does the 3-Day Guarantee Mean for Your Family?
If your child currently attends care for less than 3 days per week:
Your Childcare Subsidy entitlements will automatically increase to 3 days of subsidised care each week (or 72 hours per fortnight) for each child.
If your child is currently attending childcare 1 to 2 days per week, you could increase to 3 days of care per week and only pay your standard daily gap-fee (the daily out of pocket fee you pay after your CCS subsidy).
From 5 January 2026, all families eligible for CCS will receive a minimum of 3 days of subsidised care each week (or 72 hours per fortnight) for each child in childcare, regardless of their carersā CCS activity level. This change means families could save up to $11,400* each year and it ensures every child gets the best possible start in life.
What Exactly is Changing?
The CCS activity test will no longer apply for the first 72 hours of care per fortnight. This means you wonāt need to prove work, study, or volunteering hours to access 3-days of subsidised care each week.
Families receiving over 72 hours of CCS per fortnight due to work, study or volunteer commitments will retain their existing entitlements.
First Nations children will get 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight for each child.
Families who hold valid exemptions can still access up to 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight.
Financial Relief for Families
You could save up to $11,400* annually for 50 weeks of care, 3 days per week
For example, Sarah and Alex have one child enrolled in childcare for 3 days per week. Their combined family income is $90,000 per year. Sarah works full-time and Alex works 8 hours per week. Previously, they were only eligible for 18 hours of subsidised care per week.
Under the 3 Day Guarantee, they will now receive 36 hours per week (72 hours per fortnight), saving them around $230 per week ($11,400 per year)*.
*Disclaimer: According to the Department of Educationās Fact Sheet which assumes the family has one child in care for 36 hours per week, 50 weeks per year paying the average projected Centre-Based Day Care hourly fee for 2025-2026. āSavingsā figures have been rounded. Annual āsavingsā amounts do not align with weekly āsavingsā amounts due to rounding. Figures rounded to the nearest $10.
Why Is This Change Important?
Research shows that children who participate in early education are better prepared for school and life. Unfortunately, those who could benefit the most are often the least likely to access care. This initiative removes financial barriers, providing cost-of-living relief and ensuring that more children can enjoy the benefits of early learning.
The new 3 Day Guarantee supports universal access to high-quality early learning resulting in:
šMore children experiencing high-quality early education.
šChildren developing essential school readiness skills such as social skills, emotional regulation, independence and confidence.
šInclusion and equity by providing the same opportunity for consistent care.
šChildren being empowered to thrive at school and in life.
