Elm St Early Learning Centre

We spent a wonderful sunny afternoon at our Elm St Family Splash.

For some of the babies, it was their first time at the pool. How lucky were we to witness that! For other children, we saw their water confidence grow as they splashed around with their best buddies.

Thank you to our families for attending, contributing to the potluck picnic on the grass and joining in the fun in the splash park and heated pool.

🧧🐉 Our Lunar New Year Celebration 🐉🧧

We celebrated Lunar New Year with our very own lion dance! Some of us played the big drum, shook the shakers and crashed the gong, while others danced inside the lion costume. It was loud, exciting and so much fun. 🥁

We made dragon puppets, watched lion and dragon dancing, and even created our own dances. We read What Do You Do to Celebrate? and talked about how people around the world welcome a new year with family, food, music and special traditions.

We love learning about different cultures and joining in the celebrations together. ✨

T didn’t quite believe that Elm St wasn’t open.
She had to see it for herself. 😭

Our educators are enjoying a very well-deserved break and we’ll all be back together on Wednesday 7 January - welcoming back our permanent and casual children, plus some new starters (new friends!).

As 2025 draws to a close, we’re incredibly proud to have been recognised at the Mayor’s Business Commendation Awards for over 40 years of service to our community.

More than four decades ago, we started something truly special.

Elm St is a not-for-profit, parent-run centre, shaped and supported by the families who have children who attend.

Our leaders have been with Elm St for an average of 20+ years, and most of our responsible persons in charge have been here for over a decade.

We’re also the only long day care service within the Burwood LGA rated as Exceeding NQS - a true testament to the quality of care we provide.

We’re so lucky to have a community where our children bring so many families together. Yesterday, with the help of a community grant from Club Burwood, we enjoyed a wonderful Spring Social at Croydon Park Club. Banquet tables became an overflowing Toy & Book Swap and the dance floor transformed into a balance bike track and soft play zone. At Elm St, we believe learning about body safety should start early. With age-appropriate learning and trusted resources, we help children build the confidence to understand their bodies, set boundaries and speak up. 💛

Need childcare sorted at short notice or for one-off occasions?

We’re excited to now offer casual care days in our preschool room for non-enrolled families. Hopefully this provides a big help for those who:

🔵 Need last-minute or short-term care for work or personal commitments
🟡 Need some respite during school holidays
🟤 Need emergency back-up care if usual childcare arrangements are not available
🟢 Are waiting for a permanent spot to become available
🟠 Have children who might benefit from more social time or a change of scenery in a warm, safe environment
🟣 Are looking to gently transition their child to an early learning setting or otherwise in preparation for school

Casual bookings are available by the half or full day. Please note: Late pick up fees apply.
