Want to stay ahead of how search is changing in the age of AI? SEO Writing in the Age of AI gives you practical, up-to-date strategies to help you understand how AI is reshaping search and how to write content that still ranks, connects and performs.

You will explore modern SEO techniques, how to adapt your writing for evolving search behaviour, and how to build a stronger toolkit for creating effective, discoverable content.

After taking the course, Jocelyn Watts shared: “The wealth of information was what I enjoyed most. There was real depth to the content, and plenty to take away and put into practice. This course wasn’t just theoretical... it reflected what’s happening right now, especially with how quickly things are shifting around AI and search. I came away with a broader toolkit and a clearer sense of how to adapt my work moving forward.”

If you want to keep your skills current in a rapidly changing digital world, this course will help you do exactly that. Find out more here: https://www.writerscentre.com.au/store/courses/seo-writing-in-the-age-of-ai/

I’m holding Inessa Jackson’s debut crime novel. It’s called Devil Mountain. There’s a murdered GP found burnt in a state forest, creepy symbols carved into the soles of his feet, a broken-hearted detective, and a coven of witches on a mountain. So, you know. A light little beach read! LOL.
And this is what I love about Inessa’s story. A few years ago, Inessa had never written a word of fiction. Not one. She’d left her job as a PR manager at eBay to be a stay-at-home mum, and she went looking for something to keep her brain ticking over. Inessa wondered if there might be a book in her somewhere. She also, in her own words, didn’t have a clue how to start.

So she learned. The way you learn anything.
She started with Creative Writing Stage 1 with us. Then Crime and Thriller Writing. Then the Write Your Novel course, which she loved so much she did it three times. (Three!)

She found a tutor who could tell her exactly where she was going wrong without making her want to cry. She found a workshop group who are still her friends today. And she learned the one skill almost nobody actually wants to learn: how to take feedback.

And now? Shortlisted for the ASA/HQ prize. Runner-up for the Banjo. Won the Varuna mentorship. Signed to Simon & Schuster. Not too shabby, huh?

She found out about the deal while standing in a hotel shower in Kyoto, jogging on the spot and whispering OMG so she wouldn’t wake her husband. Which might be the most relatable way to receive life-changing news I’ve ever heard.

And the best part? She never set out to get published. She just wanted to keep herself sane and do something she loved. The book deal was the bonus.
So proud of you, Inessa.

Anyway. If you’ve got a story rattling around in your head and no clue where to start, well. That’s exactly where Inessa started too. Tell me in the comments: what’s the book you keep meaning to write?

Full disclosure on what late-night me is up to:
1. Reading messages from students I’m mentoring and remembering why I love this job.
2. Answering an enrolment email from someone who’s been “thinking about it” for three years. Today’s their day.
3. Prepping questions for this week’s podcast guest.
4. Deleting a sentence I wrote four times. Writing it a fifth.
5. Looking up one fact and emerging 40 minutes later, no idea where the time went.
6. Telling myself this is the last thing. It is not the last thing.
7. Quietly proud that 20 years in, I still want to be at this desk at 9pm.

Oh and I may or may not have done some online shopping of shoes. What’s keeping you at your desk tonight? Tell me below.
