Before Spotify.
Before streaming.
Before rock arenas.

There was the blues.

And few artists kept that tradition alive and evolving quite like Buddy Guy.

Discover the stories behind the music, hear the recordings that changed guitar playing forever and explore the remarkable life of a true musical pioneer.

One night. One legend. One unforgettable musical journey with the incredible Perry Celestino.

Learning changes lives.

But its impact doesn't stop with the individual.

When adults continue learning, communities become stronger. People build confidence, stay connected, contribute new skills and create meaningful relationships.

At WEA Sydney, we see this happen every day.

What is something you've learned as an adult that changed your life?

👇 We'd love to hear your story.

So many courses this Winter… and many people end up doing more than one!

So, the real question is:

What would YOU pick?

📚 something practical for work
🎨 something creative for yourself
🗣️ something new (like a language)
💡 something you’ve always meant to try

Quick question: When adults go back to learning, what do you think it’s really about?

👉 upskilling for work
👉 meeting people / social connection
👉 doing something just for themselves
👉 “finally got the time”

At WEA Sydney we see all of the above… but people are often surprised by what actually matters most once they start.

We often imagine learning as a straight path, something like Study → work → retire

But life rarely works like that anymore.

People move careers.
Return after caring responsibilities.
Learn new technology.
Explore creativity.
Learn simply to stay engaged.

Learning increasingly happens across an entire lifetime.

What have you learned recently?

Last night, WEA Sydney proudly hosted the inaugural Dame Marie Bashir Memorial Lecture, honouring the extraordinary legacy of Dame Marie Bashir and her lifelong commitment to education, equity, social cohesion and humanitarian service.

As a former WEA student and one of Australia’s most respected public figures, Dame Marie believed deeply in the power of learning to strengthen communities, broaden opportunity and foster understanding across society. Her legacy continues to inspire our work every day.

We extend our sincere thanks to Natasha de Silva for delivering an outstanding inaugural lecture, exploring the importance of human rights, community and social connection in an increasingly complex world. We are also deeply grateful to Dame Marie’s family for their support in helping establish this lecture as an important ongoing part of WEA Sydney’s public engagement program.

The evening was a powerful reminder that education is not only about knowledge, but about building a more inclusive, compassionate and connected society.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special occasion.
