Public Education Week

This is Public Education Week in which we celebrate this year’s theme, ‘Inspiring Excellence’. I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank all of our exceptional staff, celebrate the achievements of our students, and recognise why we proudly choose public education.

As examples of St Ives High School inspiring excellence, the Sydney Morning Herald published two articles this week that the rank of the highest 2025 HSC average results for public secondary schools. Firstly, St Ives ranked 45th in the top 100 average 2025 HSC scores across all public high schools (including fully and partially selective high schools) and 19th amongst all non-selective/comprehensive high schools from across NSW. This is an exceptional achievement.

Secondly, St Ives ranked 25th in the top 100 average 2025 HSC Mathematics Advanced scores across all public high schools and 5th amongst non-selective/comprehensive high schools across NSW. Again, this is an outstanding achievement.

I would like to congratulate all 2025 HSC students, families and staff. Such results inspire excellence in our current Year 12 cohort and our up-and-coming junior students.

Congratulations to Year 11 students Tom, Shira, Caitlin, and Bettina, whose self-devised performance, "The Ants Go Marching," was selected as one of the featured numbers for the LightsUP Festival in Chatswood as part of the Arts Unit. Well done to you all!

The 2026 HSC Study Guide is here and it’s full of expert tips to help students smash their HSC goals! ✍️📚

Inside this year’s Guide students will find study tips for different courses, myth-busting facts about the HSC and the ATAR and insights from expert teachers and past students.

Plus, there’s lots of wellbeing advice and support from the team at ReachOut to help students look after their mental health in the lead-up to HSC exams.

Many of our senior students have been hard at work during Term 2 , setting goals and working towards achieving an array of personalised academic goals that align with their future university and career aspirations.

If your child is in year 11 or 12 and is interested in engaging with our valuable Alumni coaching program and learning more about it please contact us via school website - you can also read more about our Alumni coaches and what they have been up to since finishing at SIHS.

SIHS Alumni Coaching Alumni Coaching program focuses on helping the student to identify and reach the goals that matter, through one-to-one mentoring.

We would like to congratulate each of the members of both the SIHS Concert Band 1 and 2 and the Jazz Combo for their commitment to achieving highly at a series of performances held in Term 2. Performances included the Chatswood RSL North Shore School Spectacular and the Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival. We want to thank each student for their commitment to the SIHS Music program and the families of the performers for supporting our students with music lessons and enjoying their concerts.
