In this week's Learning Snapshot, Year 9 students participated in a simulation exercise run by Anglicare, in which they explored the experience of living in poverty.

Last week, Kindy celebrated 100 Days of Big School! Students dressed up as 100-year-olds and enjoyed some 100-themed activities together.

Recently Year 10 and 11 Drama students performed at The Riff, a youth theatre festival held in Penrith. The theme this year was "In the Making" and the underlying question was "What's in a name?". Each performance also needed to incorporate the signature item, which this year was a box, or in our case, many boxes. The school worked with a director, assigned to us, whose name is Julian Coleman and he did a brilliant job in helping students formulate their thoughts which were then used to perform in a mosaic theatre style. The Year 11 students wrote the script, titled "Why am I me?" and did a fantastic job in writing something poignant, meaningful and worthwhile. Concurrently, the Year 10 students worked tirelessly and diligently to come up with staging for the show.

Late in Term 2, Year 10 attended a site study excursion to Cabramatta as part of the Migration unit studied in History. Students heard stories from a Vietnamese refugee who arrived in Australia as a teenager and explored the town. The students also worked well together in their group tasks and enjoyed watching the Australia vs Paraguay World Cup game while eating Vietnamese pho!
