The Forest High School has proudly signed up for STEPTEMBER in support of our wonderful new neighbours, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance! 💚👟

So far, we have an incredible 98 people registered, have raised almost $3,500, and have collectively achieved nearly 3.5 million steps! 🙌
This morning, The Forest High School is also featuring on Sunrise throughout the morning as we help raise awareness for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and the important work of STEPTEMBER.

We are so proud of our school community for getting behind this fantastic cause. Every step makes a difference! 💚 Still time to join up!

On Tuesday, TFHS came together for a powerful NAIDOC celebration, made even more significant as we celebrated together on our new school site.
We were honoured to welcome Giralang Guwal, Jagamarra and community Elders to share culture, knowledge and connection with our students, staff and community through an unforgettable cultural blessing, traditional and contemporary dance, didgeridoo performances and storytelling.
The cultural blessing of our new school site was an especially significant moment, acknowledging Country, honouring the enduring connection of Aboriginal people to land, culture and community, and marking an important new chapter in the story of TFHS. Our assembly was brought to life through incredible dance, the powerful sound of the didgeridoo and the generosity of our presenters in sharing their culture and knowledge with us. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate and deepen their understanding of the world's oldest continuing living culture.
A very special thank you also to Mr Finley, Ms Simic, Ms New, Ms Murray, Ms Nestor, Pieta C, Azzie L, Jono C and Callan W, whose support, enthusiasm and involvement helped make the celebration such a success. And of course, a HUGE shout-out to all of our junior dance stars who bravely jumped up, joined in and showed us their moves - your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved made the day even more special, and certainly gave everyone something to smile about!
Our presenters were also blown away by how respectful, welcoming and engaged our TFHS students were throughout the celebration - something our entire school community should feel incredibly proud of. The way our students listened, participated and embraced the opportunity to learn and celebrate together reflected the wonderful spirit of TFHS.
We look forward to continuing to strengthen Aboriginal education, cultural understanding and genuine connection across our school, not just during NAIDOC, but throughout the entire year!

We are thrilled to announce that our Student Support Officer, Mr Argue, was yesterday announced as a winner of the NSW School Support Staff Awards in the Impact on Students category. This is a major achievement as Mr Argue was one of 540 nominations and he was recognised for the extraordinary scope and impact of his work at our school. Through his extensive wellbeing expertise, mentoring and leadership, Mr Argue provides meaningful support to students, families and staff, and contributes significantly to a safe, inclusive and connected school community. We are extremely proud of this well-deserved recognition of the important role Mr Argue plays at The Forest High School. As part of his award, Mr Argue has been invited to participate in a rountable in September hosted by the Deputy Secretary Publics Schools, which is a forum to share thoughts and insights and discuss important issues that will help shape and strengthen schools and communities across NSW.

Congratulations to Breanna S (Year 7) who was nominated for both the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award; Northern Beaches Young Nominee and Northern Beaches Emergency Nominee, for her involvement as a Cadet at St Johns Ambulance (North Rocks Division). Breanna has been enlisted as a Cadet since 2025, and this has really helped her gain knowledge in first aid, build confidence, develop friendships, and learn skills for life...all whilst having fun!

Breanna was honoured to be presented her Northern Beaches Young Nominee Award by Matt Cross MP (State Member for Davidson), and her Northern Beaches Emergency Nominee by Dr Sophie Scamps MP (Federal Member for Mackellar).

This is a wonderful recognition of the time and commitment Breanna gives to her volunteer work, something of which she should be very proud. Well done Breanna!

Last week, our GO Foundation Scholarship students enjoyed an inspiring day of culture, community, connection and learning, joining Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from schools across Sydney at the University of Sydney.

Throughout the day, students participated in a range of cultural and community-building activities, shared a special cultural lunch, connected with other Aboriginal students and had the opportunity to meet and hear from some incredible Aboriginal role models and leaders.

The day was a wonderful opportunity for our students to strengthen connections, celebrate culture and identity, build new friendships and be inspired by the achievements and pathways of Aboriginal young people from across Sydney.

A huge congratulations to Oli, Ollie, Oscar, Balin, Taine and Coen, who represented The Forest High School with pride and enthusiasm throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud to see our students embracing the opportunities provided through the GO Foundation Scholarship Program and continuing to build their confidence, aspirations, cultural connections and leadership.

Today our Engineering Studies students once again had the opportunity to visit the Optus Satellite Facility at Belrose. This is our fourth year visiting the facility, and it continues to provide an engaging insight into the engineering and technology behind satellite communications.

Students learned about the history and development of satellite operations in Australia, toured the operations rooms and heard directly from satellite controllers and operators about their roles and responsibilities. Staff also shared their career pathways and experiences, giving students a valuable perspective on the range of opportunities available within engineering and technology industries.

We greatly appreciate Optus continuing to provide our students with this opportunity each year. The visit provides a valuable connection between the Engineering Studies course and the people, technologies and workplaces involved in engineering practice.

Well done to our U15 Girls Knockout Netball team who played against Asquith High School yesterday and did an amazing job, winning 33-28. The girls' great team spirit and committed performance helped secure this well-deserved victory.
