🌱🌸 Growing, Caring and Exploring – Our World and How We Care for It 🌿

This week, our children continued exploring “Our World and How We Care for It” through hands-on experiences in our garden.

The children explored the difference between living and non-living things and used their senses to investigate natural materials around our garden. They looked at different colours, touched leaves and branches, and smelled flowers while sharing their ideas about the natural environment. 🌿🌼

As part of our spring exploration, the children discovered how plants grow and worked together to refresh and replant our garden bed. They explored different plants, including flowers and succulents, and participated in each step of the planting process — making a hole in the soil, placing the plants, covering the roots and watering them. 💧🪴

Through this experience, the children practised caring for living things, working together and taking responsibility for our shared environment. We will continue to watch our garden grow and give the children opportunities to water, care for and explore the plants throughout spring. 🌱💚

🍎🥦 Healthy Food Week 🥕🍓

This week, our children explored healthy food through hands-on experiences with a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Today, the children explored different fruits by helping to cut them open and observing their colours, shapes and structures. They had the opportunity to taste a variety of fruits and share their thoughts about the textures and flavours.

The children also created and arranged their own healthy lunch boxes, making their own food choices and exploring different healthy options. 🥗🍎

To extend our learning into the garden, the children planted some of the fruit seeds we collected. 🌱 Through this experience, they began to explore where food comes from and how plants can grow from seeds.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore healthy food through touching, tasting, observing, creating and planting. 💚

🦷✨ Healthy Teeth Week at Morning Star Christian Childcare Centre! ✨🦷

What an exciting week of learning as our children explored the importance of keeping their teeth healthy and strong!

Throughout the week, the children participated in a variety of engaging, hands-on experiences. They painted giant mouths, created their own mouth and teeth crafts, explored healthy food choices, and practised the correct way to brush their teeth through interactive games and role play. These experiences helped develop their fine motor skills, creativity, confidence, and understanding of healthy daily habits.

A special highlight of the week was welcoming the Mobile Dental Team to our centre. The children had the opportunity to meet friendly dental professionals, learn about oral health in a fun and supportive environment, observe dental equipment, and take part in a dental check-up. It was a wonderful community connection that helped children feel comfortable and confident when visiting the dentist.

At Morning Star Christian Childcare Centre, we believe that learning through play helps children develop lifelong healthy habits while building confidence and curiosity.

💙 "Jesus Heals the Blind Man" (Mark 10:46–52) reminded us that Jesus showed love, compassion and care for others, encouraging us to look after the wonderful bodies God has given us.

👷🚒👮‍♀️👩‍⚕️ Community Helpers Week 👩‍⚕️👮‍♂️🚒👷
What an inspiring week of learning as our children explored the important roles of Community Helpers and discovered how they make our communities safe, healthy, and strong.
Throughout the last week, the children learned about construction workers, firefighters, police officers, doctors, and nurses through engaging discussions, role play, creative art, and hands-on learning experiences. They proudly created firefighter helmets, police badges, fire trucks, and other themed crafts while developing their creativity and fine motor skills.
One of the highlights of the week was participating in a Fire Drill. The children practised what to do during an emergency, followed safety instructions, and gathered at our designated assembly area. This valuable experience helped them build confidence and develop an understanding of the importance of staying calm and listening carefully during emergencies.
Our dramatic play area also transformed into a doctor's clinic, where the children became caring doctors and nurses. They examined their patients, applied bandages, and showed kindness and empathy while learning how healthcare professionals help people when they are sick or injured.
🌟 Show and Tell also continued to be a wonderful part of our week. Children proudly shared special items they brought from home, told the stories behind them, observed each other's treasures, and asked thoughtful questions. This experience fostered confidence, communication, active listening, and respect for one another's ideas and experiences.
It has been a fantastic week filled with imagination, creativity, teamwork, and meaningful learning. We are so proud of our children's enthusiasm as they explored the many ways community helpers make a positive difference in our everyday lives. ❤️

🐞 Weekly Learning Theme: People Who Help Us – Pest Control 🦺🌿
From 29/06 - 03/07, our children will embark on an exciting learning journey as we explore People Who Help Us – Pest Control. Throughout the week, children will discover how pest control workers, gardeners, cleaners and other community helpers work together to keep our homes, gardens and learning environments clean, healthy and safe.
We will begin by learning about the important role of pest control workers and how they help protect our community. Children will explore the tools and safety equipment used in this profession while discussing why protective clothing and safe work practices are important.
As the week progresses, children will investigate how keeping our classrooms, homes and outdoor environments clean can help prevent pests. Through engaging discussions and hands-on experiences, they will learn about recycling, hygiene, rubbish disposal and environmental responsibility, discovering that everyone can be a helper by taking care of the spaces around us.
Children will also explore the garden environment by learning about the difference between helpful insects and garden pests. Through creative investigations, sensory experiences, garden exploration and imaginative role play, they will develop curiosity, observation skills and a greater appreciation for the world around them.
Throughout the week, children will enjoy a variety of engaging experiences, including:

🦂🐞 Mixed Creature Explorations Week 🦎🎨
What an exciting week of exploration and discovery! Last two week, our children immersed themselves in the fascinating world of mixed creatures, learning about Fire Salamanders, Scorpions, Cockroaches, and House Insects through a range of engaging, play-based experiences.
Throughout the week, the children expressed their creativity by making themed crafts, creating colourful sand art, participating in sensory experiences, and engaging in meaningful discussions about each creature's unique features and habitats. These hands-on activities encouraged curiosity, creativity, fine motor development, and a deeper appreciation for the amazing creatures that share our environment.

We were also delighted to introduce our new Show and Tell experience! Children brought special items from home and proudly shared them with their friends. 🐸 Amphibians Exploration Week 🦎

What an exciting week of discovery and learning! Last week, the children explored the fascinating world of amphibians through a variety of hands-on experiences, discussions, songs, sensory play, creative art activities, and our new Show and Tell experience.

Throughout the week, the children learned about frogs, toads, salamanders, and their life cycles. They enjoyed creating frog life cycle crafts, participating in frog feeding games, exploring sensory habitats, and learning about the unique features of different amphibians. During group times, the children eagerly answered questions, shared their ideas, and demonstrated growing knowledge about these amazing creatures.

We were also excited to introduce Show and Tell, providing children with opportunities to bring in special items from home, share their experiences with friends, develop confidence when speaking in front of a group, and strengthen their communication and listening skills.

These experiences encouraged curiosity, creativity, communication, and an appreciation for the natural world. It was wonderful to see the children actively engaged, learning through play, and building confidence as they explored new concepts together.

🌊🐋 Ocean Animal Exploration Week at Morning Star Early Learning Center 🐠🦈

Over the past two weeks, our children at Morning Star Early Learning Centre have been diving into an exciting world of ocean animal exploration! Through hands-on activities, children discovered fascinating sea creatures such as sharks, whales, seahorses, turtles, octopuses, and many more.

Children participated in a variety of engaging experiences including craft activities, painting, sensory play, storytelling, music and movement, and creative exploration. These experiences supported children’s curiosity, imagination, fine motor skills, communication, and sensory development while encouraging teamwork, confidence, and creativity.

Our little learners explored ocean habitats, learned about different marine animals, and developed a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the underwater world. It was wonderful to see children actively engaged, learning through play, and connecting with one another in meaningful ways throughout the experience.

🐷 Our Farming Animals Journey Comes to Life! 🌾

This week at Morning Star Christian Childcare, our children completed a very special group project — creating their very own paper mache pig!

Over the past two weeks, the children have been exploring a variety of farming animals such as cows, horses, and pigs. Through hands-on experiences like painting, crafting, dramatic play, and even “milking the cow,” they developed a deeper understanding of life on the farm.

To bring all their learning together, the children worked collaboratively to create a large paper mache pig. They carefully tore paper, dipped it into paste, and layered it onto balloons to form the shape. Once dried, they painted their pig with great excitement and pride.

Throughout this process, the children learned so much more than just art:

✨ Fine motor skills and creativity
✨ Confidence in expressing their ideas

On Wednesday at Morning Star Christian Childcare, our children explored an exciting science experiment about water density 💧

Through a hands-on activity, the children investigated what happens when salt is added to water. They carefully mixed the salt, observed the changes, and discovered how the density of water can affect whether objects sink or float.

Throughout the experience, the children actively participated by measuring, stirring, and experimenting with different amounts of salt. They showed great curiosity and engagement, asking questions and making their own predictions about what might happen next.

This activity supported the development of early scientific thinking, encouraging children to explore cause and effect, make observations, and build problem-solving skills. It also strengthened fine motor skills and concentration as they carefully handled tools and materials.

In addition, the children worked alongside their peers, sharing ideas and learning from each other. These collaborative moments help build communication skills, confidence, and a love for learning.

It was wonderful to see the excitement on their faces as they discovered new concepts through play. Experiences like this inspire children to become curious learners in a supportive and engaging environment.
