🇦🇺 The Grand Finale: Parliament House!
Our last official stop on this amazing camp was the heart of Australian democracy: Parliament House!
Students received a guided tour through the two Houses of Parliament: the House of Representatives (green) and the Senate (red).
They were truly shocked to discover the sheer size of the Australian National Flag flying high above the building. Did you know it measures 12.8 m x 6.4 m (about the size of a double-decker bus)? It has to be replaced every month!
The students did an excellent job answering our presenter's parliament knowledge questions, with a special comment that we have several future politicians in our group!
The final activity was a highly engaging role-playing session in the Parliament Education Centre, where students took part in a mock parliament debate! A wonderful, hands-on conclusion to their Civics and Citizenship learning.
The buses are now rolling and we are heading home! We look forward to seeing all our tired, but happy, students soon.

Students loved walking up the staircase
embedded with 5c coin blanks, and the real highlight was watching the coins being made in the factory below. Seeing the powerful machinery in action gave them a fascinating glimpse into how our national currency is produced.
They were genuinely shocked to learn the monetary value held in those huge steel barrels of newly minted coins! 😮

What a grand finale for Day 2! After a good dinner, our students enjoyed a special night visit to Questacon, Australia's most popular science and innovation centre!
It was a night of daring challenges and electrifying fun!
A few of our courageous students took the plunge on the thrilling free-fall slide! 😱 Other highlights included the spectacular Tesla Coil lightning display ⚡️ and the wobbly experience of the Earthquake House. Of course, no visit is complete without a stop at the gift shop!
And, because our coach driver, Mal, is the best, we snuck in a quick pitstop at McDonald's for a complimentary soft serve cone! 🍦 A perfect end to a massive day!
Despite best efforts to stay up late, our exhausted but happy campers didn't take long to drift off. We are so proud of the energy and engagement shown by all students today!
Tomorrow morning, it's an early start to pack, tidy up, and head to the Royal Australian Mint for our final adventure!
