Docking “Happy Educator Day” and acknowledging all the Educators in the early childhood industry.

Presenting a little snippet of my day. Children are sponges that absorb everything that goes around them. This video reflects the child role playing me and serenades her little friend. Not only that she reads the story, she preps her friend with a cape and the bear ears.

It is moments like this, that constantly remind you of why you are doing what you do. It is rewarding and empowering.

I salute all educators and parents who actively engage with their children meaningfully with love.

“With me going back to work and not having family close, I wanted to make sure my son, Angus had a happy, homely place and some who cared for him as much as my husband and I do. AND Kiran is exactly that! Each day I receive pictures of Angus playing with the other children and all the activities he gets up to during the day which it makes it that little bit easier leaving him each day. In addition, each night I receive an email which is more like a lovely story book of Angus' adventures and progress throughout the day. Knowing Kiran does this every afternoon would take so much additional time and effort but for me doesn't go unnoticed! With Angus being the baby, I love the way Kiran includes or adapts the activities to make sure he feels right at home and part of the gang - it is such a humbling feeling knowing how much effort Kiran puts in for Angus and encourages him each and everyday to support his development and learning. For me it is important to respect that every child and their family is unique and being aware of the different strengths/ages of each child it so important and I feel Kiran does exactly that with all the children in her care with. I love that fact that Kiran has so many things for Angus to explore, and to make sure he felt right at home when he first started, Kiran let Angus take some toys home and then bring them with him so there was some familiarity for him in his first few weeks. It these little things that make Kiran and family daycare so special! “

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 20th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

This week marks an important subject on the calendar where Family Day Care Sector is recognised as an integral part of early childhood service. Our small boutique education and care environment is second to none other.

I am so proud to be in this journey especially during these unprecedented times where waking up each morning and gathering all the cosmic energies for the challenges of a new day. Everyday is uncertain, risk taking, inadequately remunerated YET everything still is REWARDING when my troopers arrive with their bundle of enthusiasm.

Happy National Family Day Care Week to all my fellow educators. We all rock.

It's National Family Day Care Week! Now, more than ever, we say thank you to our incredibly talented Family Day Care Educators for their work and contribution to our Children's Services unit.

In this challenging climate, they are working hard to ensure the children's days are 'normal' and full of fun, play, learning and routine. Their unwavering commitment is enabling other essential workers to do their jobs.

Our Family Care Educators are kind, warm, talented and dedicated professionals - from us to them we say thank you.

Denying the truth does not change the facts.

A fellow educator Renata and I had the opportunity to voice our concern and present facts of the distorted “free child care” funding to the media.

It is a lesson in life to not fix things that are not broken.

“Easter is the only time in the year where you can put all your eggs in one basket”

With so many variables in life right now.....at Kiran’s oasis the girls insisted on double baskets with the intention to seal it in a single bag.

Off went my bunnies happy, excited and protected from the chaos of the world.

If you want to see happiness look no further than these little humans who are innocent and beautiful exploring and finding their own happiness.

Family Day Care Sector needs your support.

Child care is free is a lie.

It has come with a cost to my self sustainable business without the handout of the Job keeper.

All families using the child care services deserve reprieve in this unprecedented times but not through ripping sole traders like myself off their livelihood.

As an essential worker, self employed supporting frontline workers, I am expected to keep my doors open for service.
