One of the things I love most is working with women to help inspire them to find their creative juices. So often we have this desire to write or create and we feel we are not worthy. Or that it won't be good. Or it's pointless. Or worse, a waste of time. Finding your wild creative voice is never a waste of time. It's the essence of you. It's your truth. It's exciting. It's authentic. It's yours.
I am running a series of Write Your Wild workshops for women, I have some face to face, and for those who aren't able to come sit at my real table, I'd love you to sit at my virtual table!
Saturday 7 June, is Write Your Wild...on zoom. I'd love to have you in my class. Lets unlock those creative juices!

I was thrilled to be nominated but completely taken aback to win the Inner West Council Citizen of the Year award last night. When you volunteer for something you feel passionate about, these accolades are not what you do it for. However, when they come, they are such an honour. It is a team effort by a range of dedicated individuals across two decades. To us, the Petersham Bowling Club will always just be the bowlo. The opportunity of what the club could be was, and still is, our primary driver. The underlying philosophy is for the club to be community-led and culturally driven.

From the beginning, the board had an issue with poker machines as a form of revenue for the club. They are exploitative, and we removed them in 2006. We built a model based on engagement, not exploitation, and this, we have come to find out, is something quite extraordinary and rare with NSW clubs. So we have become champions of pokie-free clubs, offering advice and support when we can. This is something the club is very proud of.

The Inner West LGA lost $155 million to poker machines in 2023. This equals $846 lost per person (including children) in the council area for that year. I am hoping the PBC can be an inspiration and a driver towards making the Inner West the first pokie-free LGA in NSW. Thank you, Inner West Council, for this great honour bestowed on me and all who have contributed to the club's success. Thanks Anne Kwasner for sticking around and supporting me in this.

We have assembled an absolutely World Class panel, to have at least some of this complex and multi faceted conversation in the public space.

Joining me on the panel is Greens Senator for NSW David Shoebridge and Digital Rights Portfolio holder, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Citizen Advocacy Group Access Now, Riddhi McIlwraith, a Cybersecutiry Professional and Digital Rights Advocate and Kirra Pendergast, founder of Safe on Social and The Online Safety Agency.

A man and his piano.
A story teller.
A musician.
A collaborator.
A man who uses his craft to navigate the liminal spaces.
I saw Nick Cave at The State Theatre in Sydney last night.
It was beautiful and intense and intimate and vulnerable and amazing.
His music has the power to reach into my hidden and unknown places and speak with such knowing.
It’s a profoundly powerful experience. I’s like his music is a key to a door that I rarely open.
