C O M M U N I C A T I N G the importance of EIUs in public education 👨🏼‍🏫

Speaking to Council delegates about the important work of Early Intervention teachers and classes as a provision across NSW (which is quite limited).

With 90% of brain development taking place in the first five years of a child’s life, having appropriate resourcing, programs and education is of such importance across rural, regional, remote and metro to support the growth and education of our most vulnerable children/students ✊🏼

R E - E L E C T E D 🗳️

I’m excited to share that I was elected unopposed into the position of Disability Officer with NSW Teachers Federation ✊🏼💕

The work I have engaged in over my time in the position so far has allowed me to professionally and personally grow as a teacher, activist and voice for disability across public education in NSW from early childhood to TAFE, and our teachers with disabilities.

Lots more to do. 💪🏼
But we can do it together 🫶🏼

The writing on the left is the start of the year.

This was the style and amount this student would write. Scripted and predictable. And always the same recount.

Supporting him overtime with different visuals and supports to expand his thinking and recounting ability - by the end of the year, he was able to construct stories and recounts with greater detail, expression and creativity [the right]. 📝
