Some feathered friends, along with a calf, sheep and guinea pigs from our Kindifarm visit last month.

Today, we had Jax, the doberman, from "The Living Safely with Pets" program visiting the 4-5 year olds.
The program educates children on what it means to be a responsible pet owner and how to live safely with dogs.

The children in our Preschool room were engaged during our Bravehearts incursion yesterday. Bravehearts Ditto Keep Safe Adventure Show teaches young children essential personal safety skills and knowledge through song and dance.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. It provides us with rich opportunities to engage in meaningful learning experiences. At Young Phoenix Academy we reflect on our role in the reconciliation process and to take action toward building respectful and inclusive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The children were able to take part in a Sharing Country incursion, learning about indigenous animals through song and dance.

Through song, dance, story, language and the demonstration of traditional tools and artefacts, the children at Young Phoenix Academy were invited to learn and engage with Indigenous culture. They explored the tools used to hunt, gather and prepare meals, took part in traditional dances, and learnt new words and songs in traditional language.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums, aunties, grandmothers and mother figures. Thank you for all that you do and reminding us that not all supeheros wear capes.

Displaying a child's artwork gives them a sense of belonging, helping them to be present and motivates them to create, develop and experiment with art. This is visible in the nursery rooms, where children agreed 0-2 years have their artwork on the walls.

The children in our Toddler room have been learning about expressing emotions through colour and art. Sometimes it can be difficult for children to put words to what they are feeling, encouraging them to express their thoughts and feelings through art can provide a very natural and safe way for children to express themselves.
