Which minerals and vitamins do we need for healthy immune system?

Most people know how important vitamin C is for a healthy immune system.

But it’s not just vitamin C. It’s also other vitamins and minerals. Another important vitamin for our immune system is vitamin D. Unfortunately taking vitamin D might not be enough.

Everything in the body needs to be in balance. Vitamin D not only requires sun to be activated, high doses of vitamin D can also deplete your magnesium stores.

Look into nature for natural sources of your vitamins and minerals. Only balance diet will reduce the risk of deficiencies.

If you reach out for supplements, don’t forget to take your magnesium together with vitamin D.

Thank you Pepe Saya Cultured Butter and Barambah Organics for my favourite kind of vitamin D and thank you Magnesia Australia and Mg Mivela for my favourite kind of magnesium.

What is natural thermal water?

In one of my previous posts I mentioned the word “thermal” What’s the difference between thermal and mineral water?

Naturally occurring minerals in water don’t necessary mean that the water is thermal.

Natural mineral water needs to reach at least 20°C when emerging from the spring to be called thermal.

It also needs to contain at least 1 g dissolved minerals per liter.

Thermal waters can be used for baths, inhalations, and drinking.

Why should we consume mineral water and is it only for drinking?

Natural mineral water is a natural source of all kinds of minerals. Mineral water with high amount of magnesium and calcium are also called hard water.
Drinking such water can not only help the intake of magnesium or calcium, using such water for cooking can prevent mineral losses of all essential elements from food (vegetables, meat, cereals). According to the study by Frantisek Kozisek, such losses may reach up to 60 % for magnesium and calcium.

What is balneology?

Balneology is the study of medicinal springs used for bathing, drinking, steaming and inhaling natural mineral waters.

Mineral waters are usually rich in minerals, which can be absorbed into the body through hydration, by both drinking or bathing.

If you aren’t lucky to live next door to a thermal or natural mineral water spring, you can still enjoy drinking bottled mineral waters.

If you live close to the springs or don’t mind a bit of travel, you can try balneotherapy or hydrotherapy.

Sparkling or still water?

When it comes to drinking water during meals, still water is preferable.
But how about sparkling water when cooking?

When cooking vegetables, sparkling water helps the vegetables preserve their colour. Bicarbonate, which is usually present in mineral water, seems to soften vegetables.

Mineral water with high bicarbonate levels can decrease cooking time while preserving more vitamins.

Try to look for water with high magnesium bicarbonate levels rather than sodium bicarbonate to cut down on your salt intake.

The carbon dioxide also helps with baking, making the foods lighter and fluffier.

If you want your dumplings or pancakes to be extra fluffy and light, try sparkling water next time with your favourite recipe.

The air bubbles expand and cause the dumpling or pancake rise.

It can be a bit of a quest to find out what's in your tap water, or what’s in ordinary bottled water as many products lack the water analysis table on the bottle.

Natural mineral water, by law is required to be regularly tested and the minerals contained in the water must be clearly displayed on the bottle.

Learn to be inquisitive and look up what is in your water, read product labels on water bottles you buy.

To help you on your journey, have your water tested with Toxtest and receive 5% discount on your first order.

SILICA in mineral water

Most people know that minerals such as Magnesium and Calcium are essential for our bodies to stay healthy and there are a few natural mineral waters containing these crucial minerals. A few mineral waters also contain another very special mineral, Silica.

..Silica is an essential mineral in building and protecting bones, it can improve bone density, and it may offer a great help after fractured bones, or other similar injuries, speeding up the recovery.
..It is involved in the formation of collagen which means it’s not only good for our bones, but also for hair and nails.
..It can also help protect your body from the build-up of aluminium. Studies have shown that drinking silica rich mineral water helps with the removal of aluminium by the urine.
..Aluminium toxicity has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease and decline in cognitive abilities, cardiovascular disease, autism, infertility, and systemic inflammation.

Aluminium can be found in drinking water, food, including table salt, and in vaccines. Aluminium is included in vaccinations because it strengthens the immune response to the vaccination and this should make the effect of the vaccination stronger and more protective against the infections.

In the past, not so long ago, people used to make daily journeys to a well to fetch their water. Nowadays, the water is conveniently pumped into people's homes through a piping system.

It is thought that plastic plumbing pipes do not keep the water as clean as brass and copper piping systems though. Unlike with other piping materials, bacteria can grow in plastic pipes and can get into your water.

When it was made possible to bottle mineral water, this has solved the problem of avoiding contaminants and bacteria from getting into the water.

Unlike tap water, mineral water contains minerals. Mineral water comes from a naturally occurring spring where the water has risen up from underground. Mineral water often also sees the water passing over rocks above ground, collecting minerals as it flows. It is then collected for the beneficial qualities in the water and minerals are listed on the label following rigorous testing.

When buying bottled water, always check the label. This will tell you what minerals are in the water you chose.

Today, I’ll introduce you a special water. One that I think is a queen among mineral waters, Magnesia Extra.

It has ultimately the highest magnesium content among mineral waters while maintaining low sodium levels.

With 300mg of magnesium in a form of magnesium bicarbonate, it belongs to highly mineralized waters. It’s a great water for its taste, magnesium content and provides excellent hydration.

As a bonus mineral, Magnesia Extra has 88mg of Silica (Silicic acid). As a homeopathic remedy, silicic acid is used to treat diseases of bone, tooth decay, and necrosis. It should work for scars, skin growths, dry skin and hair and brittle bones and nails.

Silicic acid is also considered to be helpful for its ability to excrete aluminium and other heavy metals from the body. According to recent research, there are unexplained links between human exposure to aluminium and the incidence, progression and aetiology of Alzheimer's disease.

Today I'd like to introduce you to Mlynsky pramen.

Mlynsky pramen which could be translated in English as Mill Spring.
It belongs to mineral water with high mineralization, bicarbonate-sulphate-sodium chloride-type, with increased content of fluorides and silicic acid, which makes it hypotonic. Hypotonic drinks tend to reduce inflammation.
The Mill Spring comes from a natural healing source in the Czech spa - Karlovy Vary. Mineral springs in Karlovy Vary are used for drinking therapy to help with digestive problems, especially with the stomach, gall bladder, biliary tract, pancreas, liver, duodenum, small and large intestine. Karlovy Vary springs are also indicated for metabolic diseases, including diabetes mellitus. Thanks to the Mill Spring being bottled and exported all over the world, you can enjoy the curative experience without leaving home.
