Yoga for children is more than just movement. ๐Ÿง˜

When children learn to breathe through big feelings, focus their attention, and connect with their bodies, they're building skills that stay with them for life.

We speak to Kara from Love Pilates Beecroft about some of the ways to introduce yoga to children.

The blog explores the benefits of yoga for children, from better sleep and improved concentration to emotional resilience and shares some practical ways to bring it into your home, including a free YouTube channel that makes it genuinely fun.

Hi, I'm Rozina, an Early Childhood Educator at Westmead Early Education Centre.

I've been working with children for 35 years, 16 as a primary school teacher and 19 in early childhood education here in Australia, including 17 years right here at Westmead. This place has been a huge part of my life.

I'm fluent in multiple languages, and being able to support children to bridge their home language with their learning is something I'm genuinely passionate about. Every child deserves to feel understood and connected.

My approach is built on curiosity, culture, and care, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

A bowl of something warm and nourishing โ€” that's what this Veggie Miso Soup delivers.

A rich umami broth made with miso and Vegemite, loaded with silky tofu, carrot, bok choy, edamame and noodles.

It comes together in 40 minutes and is the kind of weeknight dinner that feels like a hug on a cold day.

The combination of miso and Vegemite might sound unexpected, but together they create a depth of flavour that works beautifully. It's also a great way to gently introduce children to new ingredients and textures in a familiar format.

Serve it as is or with a slice of bread and dinner is ready.

The full recipe is on the blog: https://www.educhildcare.com.au/veggie-miso-soup/

Hi, I'm Pratixa, an Early Childhood Educator at Westmead Early Education Centre. ๐Ÿ‘‹

I've been working in early childhood education since 2017. Over those years, I've come to believe something that shapes the way I work every day, there are no mistakes in life, only lessons. I bring that mindset to everything I do with the children in my care, and to the relationships I build with families.

What drew me to WEEC was the leadership and the values - particularly the commitment to open, honest relationships and creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child belongs.

Outside of the centre, you'll find me teaching classical dance, walking the beach at sunrise, or sitting down to dinner with my family.

It's National Road Safety Week. Will you take the 'Drive So Others Survive' pledge to support the reduction of road trauma?

๐Ÿš— I pledge to drive as if my loved ones are on the road ahead.
๐Ÿš— I will remove all distractions and never use my mobile phone while driving.
๐Ÿš— I will not put other people at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
๐Ÿš— I will protect all vulnerable road users, especially those whose job places them in harmโ€™s way, by slowing down and giving them the space they need to be safe.

Risotto has a reputation for being tricky, but we promise this one is more stir-and-watch than anything intimidating.

Our Mushroom Risotto is filling, flavourful and the creamy texture is a winner with most children.

Paired with corn and peas stirred through, it covers some nutritional ground with some easy favourites.

Our latest blog has the full recipe, plus a few tips to make it work for your family.

Are you looking for smoother transitions into dinner time? ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

At SEEC, we practise progressive meals - a child-centred approach that gives children the freedom to eat when they're hungry, choose where they sit, and take part in preparing and serving their own food.

This translates to children who are more willing to eat, more open to trying new foods, and more confident in their independence.

Our latest blog explores why we do things this way and how you can bring some of these rituals into mealtimes at home.

"What's that yummy smell?"

If you've ever had a child wander into the kitchen mid-cook, you know that's the highest compliment going.

Our latest recipe is a hearty Italian pasta soup, packed with vegetables, beans, and a gentle flavour that works for the whole family.

Plus, it's a great one to make together.
