I can not tell you how many of my clients feel as though they are too much or not enough in their romantic lives. The hours I have spent coaching and supporting women from all over the world, this belief has to be one of the top beliefs I come across.
Why is it that the world has sent us this message. Sometimes this is formed from actions that send us this message indirectly and other times these exact words have been spoken in to us. I want you to know that this is a HUGE, BIG FAT LIE and we need to stop it.
One of the things I help my clients do is to understand their own needs as an individual human being and as a partner in a relationship. Our needs stretch across many areas of our lives, physical, emotional, mental, social, sexual, relational..... the list goes on and on.
It is important to identify your needs and to understand who is responsible or part responsible for helping you meet them. We are never going to be needless or completely self sufficient in meeting our own needs, it is unrealistic and unhealthy for us to have this expectation. Just as it is unhealthy and unrealistic for us to place the sole responsibility of our needs being met onto others. We do need to make sure we are meeting the needs of our own that only we can meet and having the right people in our lives to assist us with the rest.
The reasons for our unmet needs can vary, whether it be due to partnering with incompatible people, a lack of or ineffective communication, low self esteem, unrealistic expectations on one or both sides, negative beliefs, past experience or trauma, the unwillingness of others and even a lack of knowledge and understanding.
If this is an area in your life that you would like to see change in or be supported in I'd love to hear from you. You are not alone and it is absolutely possible for your relationships, especially the one you have with yourself to be different and more fulfilling.
Some much love coming your way my friends ###x
