Teaching in nature 🌳🍂

Something so simple as collecting sticks whilst playing in nature this week, saw us practising our counting and sorting our sticks in numbered groups. 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

We’ve recently implemented no TV or IPAD in our house to see if it makes a difference to our girls learning & behaviour. One week in and already seeing so many positive changes! This mornings learning activity was some magnetic letters and numbers🔠

She’s taken such a love for books this week so we’re working on our phonemic awareness and letter recognition this morning! 🧡

Early Childhood Educators Day💕-
not just today but everyday, our educators should be recognised for all that they do in their role as an educator. Mentoring, encouraging, and shaping our young peoples minds is such an important role and we are so thankful for all that you do in this industry👏🏻

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE FLOWERS THAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO THROW OUT.. make a flower collage with your toddler🌹🌸

I absolutely love using nature in artworks for children, it allows them to explore different textures, colours all whilst building on their fine motor skills!
🌸
We simply took all the petals off some old flowers and used them to make a colourful flower collage. It was a bit messy but miss A loved it and tried to smell the petals💕

Sand play and the coloured variety is always the most fun! The store bought coloured sand can be a bit pricey so it’s good to make your own. Here is an easy way to make your own colourful sand for arts, crafts, sensory play and more! 💛
⬇️
Epsom salts or cooking salt
Zip lock bags
Food colouring
⬇️
• Add your desired amount of salt to your zip lock bag, use one bag for each colour
• Add several drops of food colouring to each bag and seal
• Then squish and mix the colour into the salt. Once covered, open the bag and empty it onto a surface to allow it to dry
Once dry, you’ll have the most bright, vibrant and soft coloured sand!

A simple fine motor activity for your toddler ✅
You’ll need:
• Playdough
• Pasta
• Pipe cleaners
💛
Threading the pasta onto the pipe cleaners is a great way to develop those fine motor skills that are essential for being able to draw, write, tie shoelaces & open up lunch boxes. Also a great activity for that hand eye coordination & concentration!

A simple invitation to play set up!

Invitations to play encourage your child to expand their thinking and play in a fresh and creative way, without intruding on their play 💛

It’s a fantastic way to introduce natural items, objects from around the home or different uses for their toys! 🦁
