Yoga for children is more than just movement. ๐Ÿง˜

When children learn to breathe through big feelings, focus their attention, and connect with their bodies, they're building skills that stay with them for life.

We speak to Kara from Love Pilates Beecroft about some of the ways to introduce yoga to children.

The blog explores the benefits of yoga for children, from better sleep and improved concentration to emotional resilience and shares some practical ways to bring it into your home, including a free YouTube channel that makes it genuinely fun.

Hi, I'm Pramila, an Early Childhood Teacher at Northmead Early Education Centre.

I actually worked at NEEC as a casual educator before COVID, and when I returned in 2023 it genuinely felt like coming home. Reconnecting with the children, families, and educators here reminded me exactly why I chose this path.

I came to Australia in my early 20s to study, worked hard to build a life here, and followed my passion to become a teacher. That journey means a lot to me, and I bring it with me every day.
I believe children thrive when they feel safe, seen, and free to explore at their own pace.

Being part of those early moments of discovery is something I'll never take for granted.

A bowl of something warm and nourishing โ€” that's what this Veggie Miso Soup delivers.

A rich umami broth made with miso and Vegemite, loaded with silky tofu, carrot, bok choy, edamame and noodles.

It comes together in 40 minutes and is the kind of weeknight dinner that feels like a hug on a cold day.

The combination of miso and Vegemite might sound unexpected, but together they create a depth of flavour that works beautifully. It's also a great way to gently introduce children to new ingredients and textures in a format that feels familiar.

Serve it as is or with a slice of bread and dinner is ready.

The full recipe is on the blog: https://www.educhildcare.com.au/veggie-miso-soup/

Hi, I'm Brook, a Certificate III Educator at Northmead Early Education Centre. ๐Ÿ‘‹

I've always felt most at home when I'm working alongside children; it feels like my purpose. I believe children can teach us just as much as we teach them, and that belief shapes everything I do in the room.

At NEEC, I place a strong emphasis on really listening to each child and understanding what makes them tick. When I can weave a child's genuine interests into their learning experiences, the difference in their engagement and confidence is something special to witness.

When I'm not at the centre, you'll find me with a good book, a great coffee, or hearing a song I've never listened to before for the very first time.

It's National Road Safety Week. Will you take the 'Drive So Others Survive' pledge to support the reduction of road trauma?

๐Ÿš— I pledge to drive as if my loved ones are on the road ahead.
๐Ÿš— I will remove all distractions and never use my mobile phone while driving.
๐Ÿš— I will not put other people at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
๐Ÿš— I will protect all vulnerable road users, especially those whose job places them in harmโ€™s way, by slowing down and giving them the space they need to be safe.

Risotto has a reputation for being tricky, but we promise this one is more stir-and-watch than anything intimidating.

Our Mushroom Risotto is filling, flavourful and the creamy texture is a winner with most children.

Paired with corn and peas stirred through, it covers some nutritional ground with some easy favourites.

Our latest blog has the full recipe, plus a few tips to make it work for your family.

Are you looking for smoother transitions into dinner time? ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

At SEEC, we practise progressive meals - a child-centred approach that gives children the freedom to eat when they're hungry, choose where they sit, and take part in preparing and serving their own food.

This translates to children who are more willing to eat, more open to trying new foods, and more confident in their independence.

Our latest blog explores why we do things this way and how you can bring some of these rituals into mealtimes at home.

"What's that yummy smell?"

If you've ever had a child wander into the kitchen mid-cook, you know that's the highest compliment going.

Our latest recipe is a hearty Italian pasta soup, packed with vegetables, beans and the kind of gentle flavour that works for the whole family.

Plus, it's a great one to make together.
