I used to think wanting more made me ungrateful.

I was grateful. Genuinely.

But I was also exhausted... unfulfilled... and quietly pretending I was fine.

The shift was this:

Wanting a different life doesn't mean you're not grateful for this one.

Both things can be true.

You're allowed to want more.
You're allowed to outgrow where you are.

I had to give myself permission to believe that before anything changed.

Something nobody tells you when you study leadership...

The most useful lessons I ever learned didn't come from a textbook or an MBA.

They came from years of working in environments where getting it wrong wasn't an option.

Here's what 25 plus years in healthcare taught me about resilience:

1. You learn to stay calm when everything is uncertain
Not because you're fearless. Because the alternative isn't useful.

2. You learn that people need presence, not perfection
The best thing you can offer in a crisis is to be genuinely there.

3. You learn that systems matter — but people decide everything
You can have the best process in the world. It lives or dies by the human running it.

4. You learn to make decisions with incomplete information
Healthcare taught me to move forward with what I have, not wait for perfect data.

5. You learn that burnout is not weakness — it's information
It tells you something important about what needs to change.

These are the skills I brought with me when I left.

They're the skills I still use every day.
