🏡👶 What do you see when you look at this picture?
What do we see? We see an intentionally designed cot for a baby! 💕🍼
Our preschoolers have been very interested in baby role play recently, and we have loved watching this interest travel throughout our learning environment. Their play has made its way into each of our permanent learning spaces, including the construction area.
Here, the children have sourced materials from all around the room to bring their idea to life. They have carefully selected, moved, balanced and combined resources to create a space for their baby to sleep. 🧱🪵🧸
What might look like a collection of blocks and loose parts to us is something much more meaningful to the children - a cot, a home, a family and a story unfolding through play.
This is the beauty of intentional environments: when children have the freedom to access open-ended resources, their ideas can take shape in ways we may not have imagined. ✨
Through this play, our preschoolers are developing problem-solving, collaboration, communication, creativity and imaginative thinking all while following an interest that is meaningful to them.
So, what do you see? We see learning, imagination and a whole lot of purposeful play. 💕
