Childcare costs: Top Australian money expert claims it's 'not worth' mums going back to work if they earn $80,000 18/04/2023

It’s depressing to see that the high cost of early childhood education and care is still raising the question of whether it’s worth women going back to work if earning $80,000 or less. This is the dilemma that so many women have faced. Because it still tends to be the woman who is earning less. As a result, it’s women who often end up quitting paid work when her salary is entirely swallowed up by child care costs. But of course it’s a much more complex equation than income vs expenditure in this case. When a woman steps out of the workplace, she looses her place on the career ladder, the compound benefits on pension contributions, opportunities and confidence, to name just a few.

And if the relationship ends 10, 15 or 20 years later, it can be punishingly difficult to re-establish a career. For women in this situation, it can feel like an uphill battle. Panning for Gold was created to address this. It is designed to help women who have taken extended breaks to reframe the narrative; to help women to step into their new lives with a stronger sense of their value - to pan for all the tiny pieces of gold in their lives and fulfill their potential.

Life doesn’t always follow a straight path.
It can present some surprising – and sometimes unpleasant – twists and turns.
And sometimes the road ahead seems unclear, or barriers seem to be blocking your path. However, adversity itself can be the biggest transformer. It can challenge you and force you to grow in unexpected ways. And sometimes it whispers in your ear: are you going to lie down and stop here? Are you going to accept this as your lot? Or are you going to dig deep and find the strength within you to keep going? To see what else life can offer?

If you’re ready to find the gold within you, to discover how much more you can be, how much richer life can be in all ways, Panning for Gold could be for you.

Compromise.

The hallmark of any good relationship. A healthy exchange. An equal give and take.

But what if there’s imbalance – and one person ends up doing more giving, and the other more taking? Suddenly compromise takes on a less benevolent and wholesome hue.

Sadly, in our culture it is often the woman who is expected to be the one who gives more; who compromises more. It’s often described as ‘selfless’. For centuries we have been presented with literary and historical examples of the selfless woman. She is the embodiment of uncomplaining sacrifice. The perfect wife and mother.

But by being selfless, by putting others first, there is inevitably loss involved; the giving up of something. Taking less than. Expecting less than. Hoping for less than and having smaller dreams.

And what happens if the relationship you sacrificed for ends and you suddenly find yourself needing to pick up the threads of your career?

One of the biggest challenges for women embarking on a new career after divorce is overcoming self-doubt and fear of failure. After years of compromising your own goals and aspirations, it can be difficult to believe in yourself and your ability to succeed. You might be tempted to take the first job that comes along.

Panning for Gold is an invitation to end a life of compromise. Is it an invitation to want more, to believe you are worth more – to dream bigger. Week by week we go through a process designed to re-connect you to your hopes and dreams, to all the skills you have and the value you bring. One to one coaching and group calls will give you the support and encouragement that you need to embark on this next phase of your life with renewed confidence and clarity.

How the philosophy behind the Japanese art form of _kintsugi_ can help us navigate failure 22/02/2023

In many ways, the process we embark on in Panning for Gold is like Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken items with gold. The philosophy at the heart of Kintsugi is that there is an intrinsic value in everything, broken or damaged though they may be. And the extraordinary thing is that the process of putting all the tiny pieces back together with gold, makes the item unexpectedly more beautiful than before. What would all the tiny pieces of your life look like whole? Pan for the gold. Rebuild. Regroup. Relaunch.
