I first met at primary school. She was a newbie at our school and we instantly hit it off.
Fast forward 20 years and here we were, roomies in Miami, š“ having an awesome time at a mutual friendās wedding. Around that weekend we also hit the beach, šļø spent a very long night in a karaoke bar šµ and also hit the Cuban quarter. šš½
It was an awesome long weekend hanging with a load of our best mates from school. ā¤ļø
One thing I know from real friendships is that your best friends allow you to be exactly who you are. Thereās no judgment ever. Just acceptance, love, encouragement and a heap of laughs. The best friendships are easy going and always fun. 𤩠Love you Simmy and the school bunch too # #

Moving into leadership requires a shift in strategy. Doing what you have always done (regardless of how exceptional your results) isn't enough.
š„Your shift in strategy should look like this: š„
1. A move from operational deliverables to strategic insight
2. A shift to understand what the business needs now (not just your team or department)
3. An investment into learning how to influence others (and gain the support and advocacy from others)
If you want coaching support to get promoted into leadership (or senior leadership) watch my strategy-rich Leadership Unlocked Masterclass now (link in Comments) >>

What youāre paid
The opportunities you go for / get
How youāre perceived
Whether youāre on the list for promotions
Whether youāre seen as a āhigh potentialā

I went to see LEE at the cinema this weekend with a girlfriend. It is a harrowing movie about the atrocities of WW2, seen through the eyes of female wartime photographer Lee Miller, who was beyond brave.
Itās an absolute must-see movie.
Itās difficult to watch at times due to the content but it is stunningly produced and Kate Winslet is just remarkable (as she always is). Her performance was just off the charts.
I enjoyed (and needed) my āfeature-lengthā pour of Rose thatās for sure. X

Do you have a tendency to overthink problems?
I used to be a bit like this. Iād fantasise about all the things that COULD go wrong or MIGHT go wrong.
My imagination would take me in any direction it fancied.
One of the biggest gifts that coaching has given me personally is the gift of objectivity.
It solves so many problems!
When you have an āissueā (it might not be an āissueā by the way⦠how youāre thinking about the āissueā might be creating the āissueā - but thatās another post)ā¦
But when you have an āissueā the key is to take a step back and look at it objectively.
What do I know to be true?
What am I guessing?
And what MEANING am I attributing to this situation?

One of the most critical shifts to make as you move into senior leadership is becoming perceived as a strategic leader.
Are you perceived right now as a strategic leaderā¦
Or are you still firmly positioned in the DOING camp ?

If you feel like you arenāt achieving your true potential at work the chances are itās not your fault.
Women have been forging their way, to achieve professional success, through a biased and discriminatory system for the last 70+ years.
Itās a system that too often does not set you up for success.
And the mistake I see a lot of women make is to assume that they are somehow not good enough.
Which prompts them to work even harder.
But hereās the thing.
Women continue to leave university, better qualified than their male peers.
Women continue to outshine men in their leadership across most measures such as collaboration, taking initiative, developing others and delivering exceptional results.
So the next time you start doubting your skill set or your value⦠ask yourself if those factors are really in question.
Look instead at how youāre being set up. Are you being set up to win - or not?
I work with between 30-50 women a year to teach them the skills of career management. To help them show up differently. To help them get the support and sponsorship they need to thrive.
Do you want to be one of them?
