The children explored their Connection to Country through a sensory and role-play experience.
Using coloured rice and a selection of natural resources, the children engaged in hands-on exploration, imaginative play, and meaningful conversations about the land and the environment around us. Through scooping, pouring, sorting, and creating, the experience encouraged curiosity, sensory development, and a sense of belonging.
Simple experiences like these provide opportunities for children to connect with nature, explore cultural perspectives, and learn through play in a calm and engaging environment.
Ruse Early Learning Centre
Ruse Early Learning Centre is a newly renovated childcare service providing care for the local community.
Nurturing independence and fostering worlds of exploration, our dedicated educators and connection with families are what sets us apart from others.
Our preschool children enjoyed a meaningful excursion to Smiths Creek during Reconciliation Week, where they explored the importance of “Connection to Country” through a beautiful bush walk. 🌿
The children immersed themselves in nature, listened to the sounds of the land, observed the environment around them, and reflected on the deep connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with Country.
Experiences like these help foster respect, understanding, and appreciation for Australia’s rich cultural heritage.
Our preschool children have been diving into the fascinating world of reptiles 🐍🦎
Through hands-on sensory play, the children explored different textures, colours, and environments inspired by their growing interest in reptiles. These meaningful experiences encourage curiosity, imagination, language development, and confidence as children learn through play and discovery.
What an exciting adventure our little learners are on! 🌿✨

Happy Mother’s Day
The service had a wonderful time celebrating Mother’s Day with our families and community. Our Mum’s enjoyed creating flower bouquets, decorating cookies, painting with mum and making relaxing bath salts.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special.

Our garden makeover is underway 🌱
While exploring, the children discovered grub worms and have been learning about their role in our garden’s life cycle 🐛 Such a great hands-on learning experience!
We’d love your input, what should we plant? 🌼🥕
Once everything is ready to harvest, families and friends are warmly invited to join us and take home some of our homegrown goodies!

Our preschoolers have been diving into the fascinating world of mealworms this week!
Through hands-on exploration, the children observed how mealworms move, what they eat, and how they grow. We talked about life cycles and discovered that mealworms eventually turn into beetles, what an amazing transformation!
The children were curious, gentle, and full of thoughtful questions. Activities like this help build early science skills, encourage empathy for living things, and spark a sense of wonder about the natural world.
We’re so proud of how engaged and excited everyone has been during this learning experience. Who knew such tiny creatures could inspire such big curiosity?
Today, our children enjoyed a fun and educational Annie & the Waves incursion! 🌊☀️
Through storytelling, and interactive activities, the children learned all about staying safe at the beach and around water. They explored important messages such as recognising potential hazards, knowing what to look out for, and understanding how to seek help if needed.
Experiences like this empower children with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe while enjoying the outdoors. We are so proud of their participation and enthusiasm!

We’re so proud to be growing a culture of sustainability in our centre 🌱
Thanks to the generosity of our families, our new Sustainable Station is already thriving! Children are exploring and reusing donated materials like cardboard, jars, milk bottles, bottle caps, and rolls, turning everyday items into meaningful learning experiences while building lifelong recycling habits ♻️
Our commitment to caring for the environment continues through our community garden, worm farm, recycling systems, energy-saving practices (like switching off lights), and using reusable cloths instead of paper towels. Every small step is helping our children understand the importance of protecting our planet 🌏
A special thank you to our Sustainability Officer, Miss Kinga, for guiding and inspiring these wonderful practices.
We’d love your ideas! What other sustainable practices could we introduce in our centre? Let’s work together to create a greener future for our children 🌿
Watching curiosity come alive through colour 🌈
The preschool dived into hands-on science, discovering the magic of colour through exciting experiments. Some children explored the ‘caterpillar’ experiment, while others mixed milk and oil to observe swirling patterns and unexpected reactions.
Through play, they questioned, predicted, and discovered, building early science skills while having so much fun. Little experiments, big learning moments ✨

Harmony Week 🌿
This week, our children embraced the beauty of diversity as we celebrated Harmony Week together. Families were invited to share a special part of their culture, and we were delighted to see children bring along traditional clothing, meaningful items, and delicious foods to share with their friends.
Through these experiences, the children explored different cultures, learned about one another’s backgrounds, and discovered that while we may all be different, we belong together. 💛
