Last week, we celebrated the incredible achievements of our Global Leadership Program 2022 graduates 🎉 We loved seeing our graduating students and for those who weren’t able to join us, we missed you! ✨ We were also able to celebrate our fantastic Excellence Award winners, Rania and Michael and our Dr. Shirlene Lim Memorial Prize winner Janani 🏆Congratulations to all of our 2022 GLP graduates! 🎓

Nominations for the GLP Excellence Awards - Applications are now open! 🎓🥂

The GLP Excellence Awards and Dr Shirlene Lim Memorial Prize are presented to GLP students whose activities, initiative and involvement at MQ, the wider community or the global community, truly reflect the values of the program.

In the case of the Dr Shirlene Lim award, we're also looking for students who have triumphed over adversity to achieve in the GLP. Any student applying for the Dr Shirlene Lim Memorial Prize, please be aware that you will need supporting documentation. We encourage you to review the application requirements as early as possible.

📣Join us for our final Foreign Affairs Speaker Series (FASS) for the semester with Mr Rumtin Sepasspour, Research Affiliate, Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, University of Cambridge and Visiting Fellow, School of Regulation and Global Governance, Australian National University. Rumtin is currently leading activities relating to researching and engaging policy around existential and global catastrophic risks to find practical solutions for policy-makers. An incredibly interesting and pertinent online not to be missed!!

Join us for our our annual ILSS event with the world renowned Dr. Samir Saran! 💡🌏 🗣💻
Dr Saran is the President of Observer Research Foundation, one of Asia’s most influential think tanks. He writes frequently on India’s foreign policy, and issues of global governance, climate change, energy policy, global development architecture, artificial intelligence, cyber security and internet governance.

The GLP ran it’s first ever Advocate Program, comprising of an online module followed by a whole day in-person workshop to give students the opportunity to learn skills and insights on how to be an effective, engaged and ethical advocate.

Join us for an online discussion with the Consul-General in Papeete, French Polynesia, Ms Claire Scott on Wednesday 7 September from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Ms Scott opened the diplomatic mission in May 2021, fulfilling Australia's commitment under the Pacific Step-up to expand our diplomatic presence to every member of the Pacific Islands Forum. GLP staff will be out and about over the next couple of weeks, so come and say hi 👋🏻 we’ll have a pop up stall on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Central Courtyard at lunchtimes and we’ll be on campus for Open Day this Saturday.

It’s National Student Volunteer Week! This year’s theme, Passion. Opportunity. Change explores how students can realise their dreams and create change across the world…and it all starts with the act of giving their time to a cause they believe in.
