Ready to party..
Here’s to good company, great food and (hopefully) some decent AF options 🙏
Also.. momentarily dreaded having to stay out late.. (I love going to bed by 9pm 😆)
until I reminded myself I am a grown ass adult and I can give myself permission to leave any time I want to.
Letting go of those old people pleasing tendencies one party at a time!
No shame in doing the “ol disappearing act and hopping in an Uber straight back to the hotel when things start to get to messy and people start repeating themselves.
I felt instantly better and more excited about the night.
Have a fabulous festive seasons all!
Celebrate in a way that feels good to YOU!

I am grateful it didn't take me losing my marriage, kids, house or my job before I made a change to my drinking. I decided that I was tired of being tired, of waking up with a headache, of having less energy in the day for my kids and my work, of the brain fog and 3am wake-ups.
What is alcohol taking from you every day? And is it enough to draw the line and say 'no more'..
With the new year around the corner, imagine what could be possible for you in 2023 if you got back in control of alcohol?

E (Event) + R (Response) = O (Outcome)
I use to respond to many life events by drinking. But guess what I kept getting the same outcome. Initially I may have been a bit more relaxed or thought I was having fun, but ultimately I would just be thinking about my next drink.. and then the next after that. The predictable outcome was always a headache and regret in the morning, and likely a fitful sleep, hanxiety and no energy.
To get a different outcome, we have to choose a different response. i.e. anything but drinking!

Happy I found an AF wine on the menu.. (Well done )
This was the AF Wolf Blass Zero Sav blanc.. not bad 😊

I was hoping to get out for a run this morning, but then realized how tired I felt. I opted for a walk instead, and I’m so glad I did! Feeling super refreshed and energized now.
The great things about not drinking is that I’m actually in touch with my body and what I need. When I recognize I need to take it slow, I slow down. I don’t push myself beyond my limits anymore. Our body knows what we need. We just need to learn to listen to it.

Today is World Cancer Day
Did you know alcohol and cancer go together? Alcohol can lead to cancer in at least seven sites in the body and is responsible for around 3,500 cancer cases in Australia each year.
The more alcohol you drink, the greater the risk of cancer in the mouth, throat, breast, liver, and bowel. But you can reduce your risk of cancer by reducing the amount of alcohol you drink.
If you need help controlling alcohol you are in the right place. Book a FREE discovery call with me to find out more:

One of the reasons I no longer drink is because life is too beautiful, I don’t want to miss a thing x

Don’t wait until you have reached your goal to celebrate yourself. Remember that you are showing up every day putting in the work. A setback doesn’t mean failure, you are unlearning years (potentially decades) of conditioning. Go easy on yourself, celebrate each and every small win, and learn from the setbacks. Keep your eye out for progress, not perfection. You got this!

We have so much power over our lives.
We are literally designing our lives by the moment-by-moment choices we make, and if we don’t make those choices, we are letting our lives happen by default and by the conditioning we received by our caregivers, peers or society.
I find it much easier living moment by moment, rather than thinking of forever. Forever sounds permanent, hard and intimidating – particularly when it comes to habit change. Moment by moment is simply a decision I’m making right now to honor the life I want to have.
When it comes to drinking, I am not saying I’m never going to drink again. I am just saying I am not drinking right now.

When I was drinking too much I hated the mornings. Mornings was waking up at 3am with a pounding headache.. mornings was the storm of thoughts crashing down on me like a tsunami.. “I did it again”.. “why can’t I stop?” .. “when will I learn?”.. “what’s wrong with me”?
I use to be so hard on myself.
The thing is that it actually wasn’t my fault. I became addicted to an addictive substance that our society glorifies.
No matter how much I shamed myself and tried to belittle myself into change, it didn’t do anything but make me feel worse which made me want to drink more.
Once I realized it wasn’t my fault, I was able to look at my situation with more self compassion.
And although it was not my fault, it was my life at stake, my family, my health. Therefore it was my responsibility to find the information, help and resources to change.
So if you are struggling today, please know it’s not your fault. But it is your life, your responsibility.
And there is amazing resources, information and community out there. Reach out if you need guidance on options. I would love to help you find a way forward that suits you x

It’s difficult to accept that Everything is grace, particularly when we are going through a tough time. But looking back, we can more clearly recognize that every difficult circumstance in our lives, holds within it an ability to teach us profound truth, to help us become more human through our own suffering and so enable us to connect with others more authentically. This was certainly the case for me when I was struggling with drinking too much. Those were difficult years, but I now cherish that time as it taught me that I wasn’t exempt from addiction. It also taught me that it wasn’t my fault, but it was my responsibility to own it and change it. It gave me compassion for myself, and for others who are going through the same struggle. So, would I change those years? Not for anything. They have given me a profound gift. x
