Indigenous themed memory game, hand-printed Indigenous Flag and 10 Scared Fish dot paintings in extension of Reconciliation Week 🖤💛❤

As we continue to encourage the children to become respectful and active members of our community, we have begun our week of engagement in the Indigenous culture. For us here at Two Peas, we are learning all about Reconciliation, what it means and what it looks like when put into practice.

Reconciliation Week's theme for 2022 is Be Brave. Make Change.

These are a few intentional teaching experiences the educators have engaged the children in today.

Today here at Two Peas Blacktown we have celebrated St Patrick's Day! In saying this we would like to say Happy St Patrick's Day to our families and the wider supporting community!

Our friends have engaged in some very luck-tastic experiences set up by our wonderful educators.

Our little friends were given the opportunity to create their own interpretation of the Irish Flag shown to them earlier in the day; with the flag on the table as a guide.

Our big friends had the opportunity to create their very own rainbow for the Leprechauns to put their pot of gold! All the while developing their fine motor manipulation!

As well as participating in an Irish Jig with our educators.

What a wonderful incursion we had today! Our friends have taken such a strong interest in exploring insects! Today was a great opportunity for them to get up close and personal with some very cool bugs!

To extend on this our educators planned for our friends to engage with a session where they were able to create their own insects! We used some simple materials such as:

-Playdough (green was requested by our friends)
-Pipe cleaners (cut into small pieces)
-Googley eyes

Our friends created some very creepy crawlies!

Look at the children’s preschool writing skills !!

Spring is here, what lovely way to start the season with some flower soup! The children learnt about native plants and shrubs and used these as a lovely sensory experience with some smell and touch.
