This week at UMEUS Early Learning… 🖤💛❤️

The children engaged in National Reconciliation Week 2026 through meaningful experiences that encouraged respect, understanding, and connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

The children explored the importance of reconciliation through stories, discussions, art, and collaborative learning experiences. They learned about caring for Country, the significance of community, and ways we can show respect for First Nations peoples and cultures 🌿

Through creative activities, the children expressed their ideas about belonging, friendship, and inclusion, creating beautiful artworks inspired by the themes of unity and connection 🎨✨

We also enjoyed opportunities to learn about Indigenous symbols, traditions, and storytelling, fostering curiosity and appreciation for the rich histories and cultures that continue to shape our nation 📖🖤💛❤️

It has been a wonderful week of learning, reflection, and coming together as a community, as we continue our journey toward reconciliation ❤️

This week at UMEUS Early Learning…

Our little learners explored fire safety through simple discussions and hands-on activities 🔥

They practiced writing fire-related words in sand, supporting their early literacy skills ✍️ The children also engaged in sensory play using shaving foam, where they mixed red and yellow to explore colour changes 🎨

Dramatic play included setting up a tent and pretend campfire, encouraging imagination and group play ⛺ We also spent time outdoors, with the children using a hose to water the garden and care for our environment 🌱💧

This week at UMEUS Early Learning…

Our little learners explored the world of healthy eating, discovering how different foods help our bodies grow strong and stay energised 💪🥕🍎 Through hands-on play and discussions, children showed great curiosity about where food comes from — especially farms! 🚜🌾

Their interest in animals also continued to grow, with lots of excitement around both farm and zoo animals. We loved seeing their imaginations come to life through play, storytelling, and creative activities inspired by their favourite animals.

What a joyful week of learning, exploring, and growing together 💚

Celebrating Harmony Week 🧡 We're celebrating our communities differences, shares kindness, and learning that every friend makes our world brighter ✨️

To participate in Clean Up Australia Day, we visited our local park to pick up rubbish and do our part in keeping Australia clean. The children had the opportunity to engage in a story, clean up rubbish from the playground, and play with their friends before heading back to UMEUS.
In both the lead up to and follow up of the excursion, we continue to work as part of the community to care for our Earth by embedding sustainable practices in our daily routine.

UMEUS Early Learning Centre bid farewell to our preschool graduating class of 2025! With joy, love, and pride, we celebrated our tiny graduates and the incredible journey they’ve had. Here’s to their bright futures, cherished memories, and the adventures ahead. 🤍✨
