If anyone tells you to just rest it, run away (unless that's what hurts).

Resting does not fix pain. Unless it's DOMS.

Serious injury or chronic pain need movement and it needs treatment, not just time.

Your Pain is all in your head, BUT that doesn't mean it isn't real.

Pain is a complicated thing, and it doesn't really exist in your body. It is your brain's interpretation of signals, and sometimes those signals are interpreted wrong. Your pain is real, but it shouldn't be there, doesn't need to be there.

Knowing this changes how you treat pain.

Over 30? Knees Aching? You need this.

Knee strength is one of the biggest factors in staying independent, healthy and active as you age. So if you aren't looking after yours right now, you had better start. This simple routine is a great way to start.

Now if you have more than a gentle ache in your knees, then this might not be the right thing for you. Different knee problems require different solutions, and everyone starts from a different place. So if you have more serious knee pain, you owe it to yourself to get help that is customised to your needs. If you want to hear more about how that works, comment "knees for life".

If not, how many times did I say knee/knees?

Perform all of the exercises twice through as follows:
Wall sits- hold for as long as you can
Rapid rises- keep going until you start to feel yourself slowing down
Lunges- go until you start to feel yourself becoming less stable or your legs begin to really tire
Extensions- go until you can't do any more repetitions

We think of pain as part of life, as part of doing anything hard. no pain no gain.

No sacrifice, no glory

But that’s not true. Discomfort, difficulty, they drive change. Pain? that’s a sign that something isn’t right.

If your car can’t go above 3rd gear any more, if your brakes are worn, if the lights don’t work, you get it fixed, because you need this stuff to operate it properly. So why not fix yourself? Don’t you need to operate properly? Isn’t living your life well the most important thing?

If I had to recommend only ONE fitness item for busy professionals...

It would be a walking pad. Walking is one of the simplest effective things you can do for your health and with one of these you don't even have to disrupt your day.

You can get them pretty cheap too, so really there is no excuse.

Happy 10th wedding anniversary to my darling wife

It was both an age ago and barely yesterday.

Time flies when it is Cherith and Damien Adventure Time, and we're adventuring all the time.

Here's to the next adventure, the next 10 years, and many more besides.

I’m honestly impressed with my clients.

They hit their workouts 95% of the time, wherever they are, whatever else is going on.

Gym, lounge, hotel room.

Dumbbells, barbells, bands or water bottles.

They make it work because they know how important it is, because they’ve made a commitment to themselves.

I like to think that knowing I have their back no matter what life throws at them helps a little too! 🙂
