Sustainable procurement and modern slavery are closely intertwined. Sustainable procurement offers a powerful tool for addressing and eliminating modern slavery in supply chains. By making sustainable procurement a priority, organizations can help to create a more just and sustainable global economy.
Modern slavery is a term used to describe the most serious forms of exploitation. It describes situations where coercion, threats, or deception is used to exploit victims and undermine their freedom.
For example, the introduction of the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018 (the Act) requires entities that conduct business in Australia with an annual revenue of at least AU $100 million to comply with the Act and publish annual Modern Slavery Statements in an online register. However, not all businesses and organisations are fully aware of the modern slavery legislation in Australia and
their roles and reporting obligations, reporting criteria and more.
Register now for our next virtual seminar; “Building Resilient Supply Chains: The Importance of Sustainable Procurement and Risk of Modern Slavery”- joining our special guest speakers as we look
at building a resilient supply chain from the lens of sustainability.
– Dr Stephen Morse, CEO, Unchained Solutions on “How to educate industry professionals on Modern Slavery”.
– Jo Bailey, Founder Jo Bailey SP, Former Chair NSW CIPS, and Former CPO in NSW Government on “Leading Sustainable Procurement (ISO20:400) to Contribute to a Sustainable World”
