So excited that from this week our intergenerational program officially begins! Pictured here is Sally. Sally was one of the owners of Handprints, and 8 years ago she was studying and working at Handprints St Ives with Julia. She read stories, and went on the best bear hunts through the yard, and she loved to start a dance party with the children in our centre. Fast forward 8 years and Sally is now non verbal, with advanced dementia and aphasia. She was diagnosed in her late 50s, so young. Sally is pictured in the second picture last christmas with her Grandson Charlie who was showing Mimi kindness and love. Charlie, at age 5, can explain how different brain works and has so much empathy and kindness that he has built through spending time with Sally and the others in her home!
This week, Sally and a few of her friends from Group Homes Australia will join our St Ives preschoolers and Jim Jam music to start a weekly intergenerational preschool program. How proud we are to be bringing joy and happiness to the lives of those with Dementia, while also teaching our children how to respond with kindness, respect and empathy to others. Welcome back to Handprints St Ives Sally!

The BALL RUN!
Handprints St Ives was full of excitement and ideas this morning as the children created and responded to a ball run. Which ball would go faster? The bigger ball, the small but heavier ball? What about the pointy rock, would it roll? What if the ramp is steeper?
The children tested their theories and ideas, but also problem solved to overcome the challenges they came across.
One idea and endless opportunities for learning!

Wonderful news! Rushda and Jasmin will be presenting at the Macquarie University Infants and Toddlers conference in November this year. Their presentation will be on how they created regular opportunities for excursions and outings in their youngest classroom. These two are such amazing and passionate leaders of Early Childhood!

Check out our new teacher splashsuits for those rainy days! For years our teachers have asked if this is a possibility. How awesome do these look, and how amazing that we have such beautiful educators who want to get out and jump in puddles too!

Our preschoolers had a wonderful time exploring the mail system today! 📬✉️

They wrote letters to their families, added stamps, and placed their letters in the postbox. 💌

This activity helps nurture their understanding and appreciation of writing as a form of communication.

Moments like these spark a love for learning and connecting with others. 🌟📝

🌱✨ Planting Seeds of Responsibility ✨🌱

We always have so much fun planting new seeds and watering seedlings in our garden! This simple yet amazing activity teaches the children about responsibility and helps them learn the basics of healthy eating. 🍎🥕

By getting their hands dirty and interacting with nature, the children are developing patience, teamwork and a deep love for the environment. At Handprints, we treasure these moments that combine learning with play, nurturing both the mind and the heart. 🌻💚

Nature truly is the best teacher. 🌿
