This is a tiny thing that will make a huge difference.
Try switching out the words, "I have to" with..
"I want to" or
"I get to"
The words we choose can unintentionally give meaning to something and impact how we feel and behave.
"I HAVE to pick the kids up now " is very different to "I GET to pick the kids up now".
"I HAVE to go and lead this meeting" is very different to "I WANT to go and lead this meeting".
Give it a go. Even if it only works half the time, I reckon that is a pretty good evolution don't you.

Just got this text from one of my incredible clients.
Our session was about taking back control. Deciding what it is that she really wants to achieve and experience and then taking action.
Priorities change, motivations change and sometimes the roles we are in just no longer serve us. Do you know where you’re headed right now? What’s important to you in how you want to live your life? How is your career serving and supporting this?

Find your fun! My 7 year old daughter is rocking out in her bedroom right now. Care free, being herself, pure joy. As adults I think we often forget to play and have fun. Pure joy with no agenda in mind.
It is often the forgotten ingredient of a workplace culture. I ask all the teams I work with, what is important to them and this list below reflects what they share. The notion of fun somehow seems to come in at the end of the conversation, but the change in energy in the room is huge and the conversation runs away with how important it is and stories of when it's felt.
Find your fun! As an individual and as a team. It doesn't need to be a huge event, it is the small moments every day that count.

If you're bringing your team together for planning sessions over the next few months then before you get stuck into the strategy and "doing" part of the day, I invite you to consider setting time aside for the people side of things, the "being".
Team leaders bring me in to help individuals get to know themselves and each other on a deeper level. What motivates them? What are their strengths? How do they make decisions? Where can they grow?

Do you struggle to explain what you do for work? How about in a way that talks to the unique value you bring and what you care about?
If the answer is "YES OF COURSE, I STRUGGLE!!", you are not alone. It is the number one reason my clients come to me.
Career transition, looking for a promotion, wanting to build a stronger reputation? Getting clarity on your personal brand is a critical part of this.
Top tips for getting started:
- Write down who it is that you help through the work that you do.
- What do they need and how do you help?
- How do your strengths help you do this?
- What is the mark you are leaving on the world?
- What are the top 3 things you think someone would say about you?
Once you have this, start to craft a statement that reads something like...
I help [who you help through your work] with [the problem you help solve]. I am [role] that [the strengths and values you hold that make you great at this.*]
* Your combination of purpose, values, strengths & skills is your unique superpower that makes you stand out. We all have one.
Your first draft won't be perfect. That's ok. You can keep refining until it feels right and flows easily when you say it out loud. It will make you smile.
You'll most likely have that annoying little voice pop up at some point creating a fear of not being good enough. Tell it to pipe down! It is just your ego trying to keep you safe and play it small. This is your story to write, go and write it.

Overload! So much amazing work coming in right now, but I was in complete mind chaos this morning. So what did I do? I jumped from email to socials to email to sorting my desk out. Basic procrastination to feel like I was back in control.
Then I got really back in control. I focused in on my goals and got down on paper my top priorities. The really important work. Once I worked through it, grouped tasks together and allocated chunks of time across the next few days it felt all very do-able.
More than that, it moved from a feeling of overload to a feeling of enjoyment and gratitude for the projects and engagements coming up.
Then. I stepped away from my computer and got some fresh air. It gave me a complete reset and now I’m off to power through, with focus.

Well hello there 2023! March is still ok for a happy new year right?! Are the new years resolutions still going strong or didn't they make it past a week? If its the latter, you're not alone!
