I made an infographic on Muscular Dystrophy to help raise awareness for this growing problem. Please feel free to share. I’ve been working with one of my vets to see if we can get more veterinary research done on it. 🤞🏾

Threatened Species day is a great opportunity to learn about some little-known species. I hope you learnt something new!

This post was originally posted to Instagram one year ago today! Still has a lot of relevant information in it, I hope you learn something new!

I was really excited to do this education post, I had seen a few relevant posts and requests so I took a deep look into it.

The examples in this post apply to Central Bearded Dragons, however most other Bearded Dragon species are in a similar boat. The overall message of the post can also be applied to a vast amount of species.

The Lizard with too many Names 26/07/2020

Another video! This took a frustratingly long time to edit, so I’m glad it’s finally up! It discusses Pogona Henrylawsoni, and the wide variety of names it gets called. Hopefully you enjoy it!

The Lizard with too many Names Rankins? Pygmy? Black-Soil? There are so many different names for the one species of Bearded Dragon. I'm yet to see another lizard with such a wide variety o...

Reptile enrichment! One of my favourite topics, it’s such a huge area. Hopefully this will help with some ideas.

It’s been a while. This was originally posted on the 5th of July, quite recently. I had a lot of fun running around and taking the readings. I hope it gives you a better understanding of the way UVB interacts with different surfaces. If there are enough suggestions in the comments, I’ll make a part 2 testing some more materials.

Thought we might do something differently and post something on Facebook first. New Video! This has been in the works for a couple of months. These facts are hard to find, with any luck you haven’t read them before. My aim was to teach you something new, if I didn’t succeed please let me know.

Please enjoy :)

With all the racism present in the world today, let’s take a moment to learn and understand someone else’s culture. Language is a super interesting topic, and the shear amount of languages we have lost since European colonisation is crazy. Maybe one day, school children will not just be taught English, but a local aboriginal dialect as well.

So I decided to look into the Arcadia shortage in Australia, because nobody seems to have a straight answer. In short, it will most likely be a couple of months before we have access to another distributor, but there are other places you can look for your Arcadia fix. Ipetz and Birds Direct NZ - Reptile and Bird Supplies should help you organise preorders for when they are fully stocked.

Thank you John from Arcadia Reptile for putting the time and dedication into finding new distributors for Australia. We appreciate it!

Question of the Week: 6/5/2020
Q: Can I stop my animal from brumation?

A: The short answer is definitely no. This has been shown to cause issues with hormone levels and can lead to your animal losing excessive amounts of weight while brumating (aka, every keepers worst nightmare). That all being said, sometimes it’s medically necessary to withhold them from brumation. Make sure you have spoken to a vet beforehand to gain some knowledge about the method to use. There is a right and a wrong way to go about it, and the wrong way is definitely going to end in hormonal problems for your animal. Never withhold an animal from brumation for fun, or unless absolutely necessary.
