This weekend we celebrate the feast of St Vincent de Paul. Recognised as the Patron Saint of charitable societies, volunteers and prisoners our Social Justice Captains - Maxine and Nicholas attended a special Mass on Friday night. Presided by Bishop Terry Brady, his Grace spoke of his own experience as a past student of St Declan’s and a desire to encourage young people to grow in their relationship with Jesus and to seek to serve the poor and marginalised. The Social Justice group at St Declan’s frequently meet the needs of others and were acknowledged by Liz Adams, President, SVDP - St George region. Many thanks to Maxine & Nicholas for their presence and service this weekend.

Year 4 had a fantastic day on their excursion to the Maritime Museum!
They had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Captain James Cook and the HMB Endeavour, gaining a deeper understanding of maritime history and the life of a legendary explorer. It was a day filled with discovery, learning, and fun! 🌊⚓

This term, we were fortunate to partner with Toolbox Education to provide wellbeing-focused learning opportunities for our staff, parents, and students.

During Wellbeing Week, students took part in engaging sessions that explored important topics such as resilience, emotional regulation, positive relationships, and wellbeing strategies. These conversations help equip our students with the tools they need to flourish both in and out of the classroom.

Thank you to Toolbox Education for supporting our school community and helping us continue to prioritise the wellbeing of every learner. 🤍

Wishing all our families a very Happy Father’s Day. We recognise being a parent is never easy and we thank the special men in our lives who take this role on, as St Joseph did, to love, care and role model for our children.

When it’s draining, we wish you strength.
When it’s scary, we wish you courage.
When it’s all consuming, we wish you peace.
And when your heart is filled with love, we wish you the stillness to savour it.

You’re in our prayers today and we are grateful for all of the men in our lives and ask God’s blessing on each of you.

Yesterday Yr 6 participated in their Retreat Day. A retreat day is held once in every stage.

Our theme was ‘Called to Sainthood’ and our focus yesterday included leadership and examples before us

Among the saints we explored, St Carlos Acutis was spotlighted as a young person our students could identify with.

Conversations about leadership, and examples of secular and Christian role models, generated healthy discussions.

Students also created a set of Good Deed Beads based on the model of St Therese of Lisieux and her desire to serve.

Our day began and ended with prayer including adoration and a time of stillness with our Lord.

Many thanks to our Yr 6 students for their enthusiastic engagement, the Yr 6 Staff, Mrs Panagakis and Fr Vijay for their contribution to our day.

Our Year 6 students had an unforgettable day exploring NSW Parliament House, diving into the history, traditions and decision‑making that shape our state. A highlight was the visit from Mark Coure MP, Member for Oatley, who shared insights into his role representing our local community.

Our students also took part in a fun and engaging role‑play to pass a bill, acting as members of Parliament to debate ideas, vote and see firsthand how laws are created.

Our young learners asked thoughtful questions, showed wonderful respect and embraced the experience with curiosity and pride.
