This lovely morning, before the children arrived at my care, I set up some simple math activities focusing on shapes and numbers. When the children saw the activities, they were very excited to join in and play.

First, I asked an open-ended question: “My little friends, what do you think these activities are about?” KJ said, “Shapes,” and Adu said, “Numbers.” I replied, “Yes, both answers are correct. Well done!”

The children explored numbers, colours, and shapes. They also talked about their favourite shapes, and I noticed that several children liked the star shape.

While we were playing, I sang a shape song and the children happily joined in and sang along with me. We then moved on to another simple math activity involving pictures and numbers. The children counted the pictures, found the correct number, and placed pegs in front of the matching number. All the children enjoyed the activity, participated enthusiastically, and stayed engaged throughout the experience.

Through these activities, the children developed their early maths skills, number recognition, shape and colour awareness, hand-eye coordination, thinking skills, and fine motor/manipulative skills.

It was wonderful to see the children learning through play while having so much fun together.

This lovely morning, my little friends enjoyed fun and engaging motor activities. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and had a wonderful time 😊

We explored rubber band activities, which are simple, low-cost, and very effective for developing fine motor skills, hand strength, and hand-eye coordination. The children loved stretching rubber bands over tubes and blocks, creating shapes, and playing fun “rescue” games with toys. We also explored creative and sensory play ideas, which encouraged curiosity and imagination.

These activities support children’s learning through play while building important skills in a fun and interactive way. It was a joyful and productive morning filled with smiles, creativity, and learning 💛
